Larry Biernacki, Owner

Music Center of Deerfield
811 Waukegan Road
Deerfield, IL 60015
Dear Mr. Biernacki:
I'm contacting you regarding a position as a guitar instructor after a family member of
mine stopped by your institution today inquiring about a possible vacancy. I have found
teaching to be a great motivation and I know the Music Center of Deerfield opens the
door for such an opportunity.
My relevant qualifications include my Bachelor's Degree in Music from Columbia
College of Chicago, during which time I gained much experience teaching students music
theory, musicianship, ear-training, and technique while giving guitar lessons throughout
the week. I taught students of varying ages which allowed me to develop a methodology
of teaching. I learned quickly that you cant force students to practice more. This being
especially applicable when dealing with young and beginners. Instead I motivate them to
have a desire for knowledge of the instrument and music in general.
Also of note is my position as Band Leader where I work as the rehearsal coordinator,
conductor, creating a fun yet productive environment, and critique in a way that doesnt
put anyone down yet still gets the message across. This position allowed me to learn to
teach in a group setting to those with very limited musical knowledge, achieve the highest
potential in each player involved, blending a cohesive sound together, all the while
maintaining high morale. The impact this had on my approach in guitar instruction grew
as a result. I started to bond more with the students which allowed me to see through
their eyes and become a much more effective teacher.
None of the above could ever of taken place if I hadnt started taking my first steps
guided by an instructor at the very same, Music Center of Deerfield. My first teacher,
Sasha Brusin, gave me the knowledge and inspiration I wish now to return to the very
place I started.
I can be reached for further discussion at your convenience over the phone or email.
Attached you will find my resume.
Sincerely,
Luke Juszczak
