SW read Confucius teachings of the six arts (rites, musicianship, archery, chariot-driving, calligraphy, and mathematics) (China,
Vietnam) (Confucius, 1999).
SW research how the Mayans and Aztecs frustrated and repulsed invaders in Mexico using archery (Graham-Heggie, 2009).
SW view video of XI Annual Indigenous Games in Brazil (archery portion). Brazilian tribes (Rikbaktsa, Kamayura) demonstrate
archery skills (XI Indigenous Games, 2011).

The unit of study will culminate with a friendly Olympics archery competition. Represented will be the four flags/nations of China,
Vietnam, Mexico, and Brazil, ending with a medal ceremony.
Rubric for Performance Assessment:
Advanced: Identify and explain how using a variety of strategies helps to improve performance of movement skills.
Proficient: Identify a variety of strategies to improve performance of movement skills.
Partially Proficient: Identify a few strategies to improve performance of movement skills.
Novice: Identify a strategy to improve performance of movement skills (Wetserver, 2012)
