BOOKY DOCUMENTATION

1. Theme Installation
After the successful theme purchase you will receive an email including your individual theme.

In the booky-package.zip you will find:

booky folder and zip file

bookychildthemefolder folder and zip file

Its the parent theme


Its the child theme (you can change the name of the folder

with your website name)

XML Demo folder

Its the xml demo file that you can import in your new website

header image folder

its the header image that you can customize with your title

ReadMe.txt

1.1 Installation via WordPress Admin Panel


Go to Appearance > Themes and click on Add New. Then click on Upload Theme and select
your booky.zip and choose Install Now. Now you have to repeat the sequence
with bookychildthemefolder.zip, this time click onactivate. Here we go, you have your child theme installed.

1.2 Installation via FTP


You can also install the theme via FTP with Filezilla. Upload the unzipped folders to the directory /wpcontent/themes/. Then go to Appearance > Themes where you can see your theme and install it using the
Activate button.

1.2 Installation of the Demo Content


To import this information into a WordPress site follow these steps:
1. Log in to that site as an administrator.
2. Go to Tools: Import in the WordPress admin panel.
3. Install the "WordPress" importer from the list.
4. Activate & Run Importer.
5. Upload this file using the form provided on that page. The file is in the folder XML Demo
6. You will first be asked to map the authors in this export file to users on the site. For each author, you may
choose to map to an user on the site or to create a new user.

7. WordPress will then import each of the posts, pages, comments, categories, etc. contained in this file into your
site.

2. The Customizer
Booky uses the WordPress Customizer like the Option Admin Panel.
Go to Appearance > Customize. Youll be able to customize your theme and see the preview before you save
and publish.

2.1 Layout
You can decide if you like the Sidebar on the right or left position. You can also choose if you want to display or
not the Social Box in the single post.

2.2 Colors
You can select whatever color you like for Header Text, Background, Body Font, Link and Link Hover. Widget
Title, Widget Text, Icons, Footer, etc

2.3 Fonts and Size

You can choose the google fonts that you like and add to your website.
Go to http://www.google.com/fonts and choose your fonts.
Add them to the collection, then click on Use.
Copy the link to the fonts like this one:
http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Open+Sans|Slabo+27px
Paste it in the first text area (Insert the Link Code).
Now you can insert the name of the font wherever you want. For example in the text area of the
Body Font.
You can edit the Font Size, too.

2.4 Footer Credits


You can change the default footer credits section.

2.5 Custom CSS


Youll be able to add you custom CSS if you want.

2.6 Custom Footer Scripts


Its a footer area for custom scripts like Google Analytics.

3. Custom Menus
In the admin panel under Appearance > Menus you can set up custom menus for the Primary Navigation (in
the left sidebar).

4. Home Page Setup


You can choose between 3 options:

4.1 Blog Page


Its the default option, so you dont need to set nothing.

4.2 Header Image


You can for example upload an Header Image like in our demo, in place of the classic Site Title and Tagline.

So, go to Appearance > Header, then choose the image and upload. The best size is 1050150 pixel.

4.3 Slider
You can add add slides under Slides > Add New, then copy and paste the shortcode [slider] wherever you
want. Each slide has four area:

1. title;
2. link to custom page;
3. order of visualization;
4. the featured image (1050550 pixel)
You can add how many slides you want. The LINK is not required, its just a possibility.

5. Widgets
Under Appearance > Widgets you can find all widget options like the widget areas for your Blog Sidebar.

There are some custom widgets for booky Theme:

About (booky): you can use with your photo, description and social links;

Instagram (booky): its useful to show your instagram feed (not required API or password);

Social Links (booky): you have 16 icons for your social networks (facebook, twitter, pinterest,
instagram, etc)

6. Page Template
In an empty page you can choose some page template under Page Attributes > Template like Full-width Page
Template , Left Sidebar or No Sidebar.

7. Post Formats
booky supports the post formats Gallery and Image. Your thumbnail image will be visible on the blog page, not
again in the single post.

The Jetpack plugin options Tiled Galleries and Carousel are helpful features for your gallery posts.

You can embed as well youtube video, vimeo video and audio player.

8. Shortcodes
You can find a documentation and code snippets (ready to copy and paste) for all booky shortcodes on the
booky live demo Shortcodes page.

9. Supported Plugins
booky is ready to use with the following plugins:

Jetpack (Tiled Gallery and Carousel options)

10. Theme Translations


booky is ready for theme translations. You can add your own translation or customize an existing translation
easily using the WordPress plugin Codestyling Localization. If you want to share your translation with PanKogut,
send an email to hello[@]pankogut.com.

11. Facebook Open Graph


Open Graph tags are meta tags added to your page with a title, description and image data. This data is then used
to populate the Facebook status box when someone shares your link.

12. Child Theme for Customizations


WordPress child theme is a theme that inherits the functionality of another theme, called the parent theme. Child
themes allow you to modify, or add to the functionality of that parent theme. A child theme is the safest and
easiest way to modify an existing theme, whether you want to make a few tiny changes or extensive changes.

In the zip file you can find the child theme ready for booky.
