ABSTRAK

Tumor otak atau adalah sekelompok tumor yang timbul dalam sistem saraf
pusat. Apabila sel-sel tumor berasal dari jaringan otak itu sendiri, disebut tumor
otak primer dan bila berasal dari organ-organ lain, disebut tumor otak metastase.
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat gambaran karateristik penderita
tumor otak di RSUP HAM, Medan dari Januari hingga Desember 2010.
Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode deskriptif retrospektif dengan
pendekatan cross sectional. Jenis sampel yang digunakan adalah total sampling.
Populasi yang diambil adalah seluruh penderita tumor otak yang berobat di RSUP
HAM, Medan dari Januari hingga Desember 2010.
Terdapat sebanyak 53 penderita tumor otak dari bulan Januari sampai
Desember 2010 di RSUP HAM dengan jumlah laki-laki sebanyak 35 kasus
(66%), kelompok umur yang terbanyak menderita tumor otak adalah kelompok
umur <40 tahun (43,4%), sebanyak 24,5% penderita tidak bekerja, pensiun atau
tidak sekolah. Gejala klinis yang tertinggi adalah nyeri kepala (73,6%), proporsi
tertinggi tumor otak dijumpai pada bahagian cerebellum (20,8%) dan terapi yang
terbanyak dijalankan adalah pembedahan (60,4%).

ABSTRACT
Brain tumors is a group of tumors that arise in the central nervous system.
When tumor cells derived from brain tissue itself, are called primary brain tumors
and when derived from other organs, brain tumors called metastases.
The purpose of this study was to see the characteristic of brain tumor
patients in RSUP HAM, Medan from January to December 2010.
This research was conducted by the method of descriptive retrospective
cross sectional approach. Type of sample used is total sampling. Population is
taken throughout the brain tumor patients who seek treatment in RSUP HAM,
Medan from January to December 2010.
There are as many as 53 patients with brain tumors from January to
December 2010 in the RSUP HAM which the number of men were 35 cases
(66%), the largest age group suffering from brain tumors is the age group <40
years (43.4%), as many as 24,5% of patients not working, retired or not in school.
The main complaint is head pain (73.6%), the highest proportion of brain tumors
found in the cerebellum portion (20.8%) and most runs therapy is surgery
(60.4%).
