Questions 1-20. Read the passages below and answer the questions that follow.
Passage 1
I never liked reading when I was younger. Then, my mother started reading bedtime stories to
me. My first storybook was a colourful childrens book, which still sits in my bookcase today.
Slowly, my mother taught my brother, sister and me to read. We started reading simple books
at first, but soon, we started reading books by authors like Enid Blyton and many others. We would
spend all our free time reading. We read while walking from place to place, on the bus, at the dining
table and almost anywhere!
Now that we are older, we have learnt to choose our own books instead of depending on our
mothers choices. My brother loves to read books on magic, while my sister prefers historical books.
As for me, I like mystery and adventure books.
We have shelves and shelves of books at home. We have read every one of them. I have
realized the importance of reading as it opens up my mind to a whole new world.
