Adverse Effects of Over Consumption of…

White Flour Products (White bread and pastas)

Processing of White flour

The manufacture of white flour, the manufacturers remove the bran (the outer shell) that provides a
rich source of fiber, trace minerals, phytochemical, and vitamins B. The germ that provides
antioxidants is also removed. This processes only leaves the endosperm that contains only
carbohydrates and protein. This remaining portion is then bleached, preserved and aged with
chlorine dioxide.

Associated Health Risk

٠ The function of the pancreas is to protect the body from disease. A tremendous
amount of strain placed on the pancreas when it is forced to try to protect the body
from chemicals. It then cannot adequately perform its critical role of protecting the
body from disease...immune system.

Refined Sugars

Processing of refined (white) sugars

Refined (white) sugar is also known by many names, including sucrose, table sugar, cane sugar,
beet sugar, grape sugar, refined sugar, or granulated sugar. It is derived from the juice of sugar cane
and sugar beets. Once extracted, the sugar can of sugar beet juice is processed extensively to
produce a white, granulated substance.

Associated Health Risk

٠ Empty calories
٠ Obesity
٠ Drains and leaches the body of precious vitamins and minerals through the demand
its digestion, detoxification and elimination makes upon one's entire system.
٠ Tooth decay and weak bones-- refined sugars produces a continuously over acid
condition. To protect the blood, calcium is taken from the bones and teeth that
decay and generally weakening begin.
٠ Causes strong mal-effect on the functioning of the brain. Causes B vitamins to
become low, causing sleepiness, ability to calculate and memory loss.
Beef and Pork

The digestion of meat takes approx. 72 to 96 hours. The undigested foods begins a toxic buildup,
this toxic build up must be eliminated by the body. The body is designed to absorb nutrients during
digestions by way of the small intestines. But during digestion the glands in the stomach secret
stomach juices—a mixture of enzymes, hydrochloric acid, and mucus. The enzymes are present to
digest and separate the proteins, fats and nutrients. The acid is there to break down food further for
elimination and mucus is present to help move the “things along.” The toxins are then absorbed
into the blood, lymphatic system, nervous system and brain.

Associated Health Risk

٠ The indigestible material (such as fiber) must then go thru the large intestine
(colon) that is responsible for absorbing the water…but because meat has no fiber
and the only thing that is remaining is primarily fat, the fat clogs the colon.
٠ Promotes heart disease-according to a study in The European Journal of Clinical
Nutrition, livestock that are fed on grain have more omega-6 fat, which may
promote heart disease.
٠ Constipation, cancer, hemorrhoids, diverticulitis can be caused by the fat clogging
the colon during digestion.

Margarine, Shortening, and Fried Foods

Margarine and shortening (oils) are used to flavor, moisten and textures foods, especially during
frying. These products are high in fat calories or trans fats. Doughnuts, crackers, cookies and potato
chips are examples of foods high in trans fats.

Associated Health Risk

٠ Research shows the consumption of trans fatty acids promotes heart disease,
cancer, diabetes, immune dysfunction, obesity, and reproductive problems.
٠ Increase the risks of obesity and cancer.
٠ High in cholesterol and saturated fats causing a clogging of the arteries that can
result in heart disease and strokes.

Additives and Preservatives

These things are added to food to prevent or slow down the spoilage of foods. Preservatives or
additives can be natural or synthetic (created in a laboratory). The synthetic additives made of
chemicals can be toxic, carcinogenic, or allergenic. Toxins are poisonous, carcinogens cause cancer,
and allergens cause allergic reaction.

Associated Health Risk

٠ Cancer, diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, allergies, diverticulitis, emphysema,
stomach ulcers, impotence, and arthritis
٠ Examples of preservatives or additives:
∞ Flavorings
∞ Dyes ............................................. FD&C colors
∞ Benzoic acid ................................ soft drink, margarine
∞ Nitrates bacon .............................. processed meats (hot dogs, lunch meat), bacon
∞ Ascorbic acid ............................... fruit products (juices, jams)
∞ BHA or BHT ................................ fatty foods (cereals, potato chips)
∞ Tocopherols…….....................…. found in oils and shortenings
∞ Lecithin…………......................... found in cream cheese, ice cream

Caffeine

Associated health Risk

٠ Caffeine is a stimulant that affects the central nervous system. It can speed up heart
and respiratory rates, delays sleep (insomnia), and dehydration due to the increase
in urine production.
٠ Short term effect--premenstrual syndrome, jitteriness, ulcers
٠ Long term effect--because caffeine can be mildly addictive withdrawal symptoms
can result like headaches, tremors, palpations and anxiety.

Carbonated Drinks

Ingredients
٠ High fructose com syrup-all fructose must be metabolized by the liver.
٠ High fructose diets develop liver problem similar of alcoholics.
٠ Aspartame, used in diet sodas, is a potent neurotoxin and endocrine disrupter.
٠ Caffeine
٠ Phosphoric acid, added to sodas to give it "bite", associated with calcium loss
٠ Citric acid of contains traces of MSG, a neurotoxin
٠ Artificial flavors may contain traces of MSG
٠ Flavored waters may contain high amounts of fluoride and other contaminants

Associated Health Risks

٠ GI Distress - This includes increased stomach acid levels requiring acid inhibitors and
moderates to severe gastric inflammation with possible stomach lining erosion.
٠ Bone fractures
٠ Tooth decay
