All students must complete the Child Abuse training that has been placed on Blackboard

Campus Student Services:
The Career and Disability Services office is responsible for three main services offered by the
institution. These include Counseling Referral Services, Career Services, and Disability
Services. The primary mission for each of these areas is defined below:
Disability Support Services are provided to students who qualify for such assistance under
the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Academic
accommodations may be arranged for students who qualify. Students must provide
appropriate documentation of a disability to the Career & Disability Services Office and meet
with the Career & Disability Services Coordinator before accommodations can be arranged. If
accommodations are necessary, a Letter of Accommodation will be prepared by the Career &
Disability Services Coordinator for students to notify instructors.
Students will also be required to contact the Career & Disability Services Office each
semester they wish to receive accommodations and provide a new Letter of Accommodation

to instructors. We encourage students to contact the Career & Disability Services Coordinator
as soon as possible each semester during office hours to discuss such matters in confidence.
Please contact Becky Warren, the Career & Disability Services Coordinator, at 870-612-2048
or becky.warren@uaccb.edu for assistance or further information.
Career Advising is offered focusing on such things as choosing a major, labor market
information, job search, resume or cover letter writing, and interview preparation. The UACCB
career planning program offers students the opportunity to research and explore career
opportunities. The Career & Disability Services Coordinator assists students to better
understand their interests, skills, and values through a variety of career assessments as the
foundation of the career advising process. The program includes additional services such as
career development workshops, an Internet-based job search system (Career Corner), an
etiquette dinner, and an annual career fair.
Personal Counseling Referrals are available to UACCB students. Individual and confidential
appointments with a counselor are available to facilitate finding the right resource. Some
available resources we can connect you to are Health Resources of Arkansas, Life Strategies,
and WRMC Behavioral Health Services. We are committed to connecting students to the right
resource.
Student Success Center: Tutoring is available free of charge in the Student Success
Center for all classes offered at UACCB. The tutoring lab is open from 7:30 am 6 pm
Monday-Thursday, 8 am 5 pm on Friday and 9 am 12 noon on Saturday. Biological models,
a microscope, computers and a printer are available for your school related needs. The
Student Success Center is located in the Main Classroom Building Room 216. No appointment
is necessary. Please contact Dennis Broadwater, the Student Success Center Director at
870-612-2041 or dennis.broadwater@uaccb.edu for assistance or further information.
Policy on Academic Dishonesty: Cheating in any form (including unauthorized materials,
information, or study aids in any academic exercise; plagiarism; falsification of records;
unauthorized possession of examinations; any and all other actions that may improperly
affect the evaluation of a students academic performance or achievement; and the
assistance of others in any such act) is forbidden. An instructor who has proof that a student
is guilty of cheating may take appropriate action up to and including assigning the student a
grade of F for the course and suspending the student from class. A description of the
incident and action taken will be reported to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and will
be placed in the students file in the Office of Student Services.
Classroom Policies:
Confidentiality:
During any discussions, email, or chats do not use the real names of any children, coworkers,
worksites, directors or parents. I want everyone to be able to ask questions and have valid
discussions without breaking any confidentiality laws. You may address problems that you
may be having within your work environment and we will discuss those, without using any
names or using any derogatory language.
Attendance Policy:
I will not decide on excused or non-excused absences. On your second absence there will be
a letter grade deduction for that absence and a letter grade deduction for each additional
absence from your final grade in the course. Late arrivals and early departures can accrue to
an absence. Attendance will be kept on a sign in and out sheet in the front of the classroom.
If you miss it is your responsibility to find out what was covered in that class session. Some
students select a buddy to get notes from in case of an absence. Excessive absences could
result in failing the class.
Distractions:
Cell phones should be turned on vibrate and should not be answered during the class
session. If you need to return the call please leave the room before speaking into the phone.
Cell calls may not be answered during quizzes or tests. Late arrivals and early departures
should enter and exit the classroom as quietly as possible. It is your responsibility to note
the appropriate arrival or departure time on the attendance sheet without disrupting the
other students. The attendance sheet is how I keep up with attendance if you do not sign the
sheet that is considered an absence.

Email:
Use my email listed on the syllabus: mindy.shaw@uaccb.edu if you have any questions
please do not hesitate to email me. I will message you using the Blackboard for group emails
that go to everyone. You can use the Backboard messages to email each other. If for some
reason you have problems with using Blackboard and I am not available then call Jo
Stephens, she is our Online Web Coordinator at 612-2027.
