RADIO SHUTTLE

Semi-Automatic High Density Storage

General features

General features
This high density pallet storage system
simplifies loading and unloading goods
by utilizing an electric cart called a
Radio Shuttle.
A forklift sets the pallet on top of the Radio
Shuttle. The cart then moves along the track
to place the load in the correct location.
Using a remote control, the operator can
execute all procedures for storing and
extracting pallets. High precision sensors
control how the Radio Shuttle moves the
stored load.

Traditional racking system.

Radio Shuttle racking system.

The structure and capacity of a

Radio Shuttle warehouse is similar to
traditional compact systems.
Radio Shuttle can be installed in any
existing warehouse with a high density
compact storage system.

Advantages
- Improved Efficiency.
The Radio Shuttle cart brings the pallet
to the entrance, the forklift does not
enter the lane.
- Increase Storage.
Radio Shuttle permits the storage of
different reference numbers.
-Reduce Accidents.
-Eliminate Lane Damage.
By eliminating forklifts from racking

lanes, the risk of rack damage is

greatly reduced.
- Maximize Productivity.
Simply by adding more Radio Shuttle
carts, the flow of incoming and
outgoing goods increases.
- Highly Compatible.
Optimizes space by compacting pallets
with different widths inside the lanes.
- Optimize Space.
Minimizes the height between levels.

The Radio Shuttle system is ideal for:

- high-density, compact storage
- cold storage
- buffers for temporary storage or
prepared orders

Operating procedure

Operating procedure

STEP 1

STEP 2

A forklift places a Radio Shuttle on the level where

goods are going to be stored.

The forklift loads the pallets one by one at the level's

entrance, supporting them on the loading sections.

STEP 3

STEP 4

The Radio Shuttle lifts the pallet slightly, travelling

horizontally until reaching the first open location
where it then sets the pallet down.

The Radio Shuttle returns to the lane entrance

to repeat the procedure with the next pallet and
continues successively until the lane is filled. Before
the last location is filled, the Radio Shuttle is extracted,
ready to work in another level.
To extract pallets the procedure is the same, except in
reverse.

The operator selects the Radio Shuttle mode

of operation with a simple push of a button. Its
functions are very intuitive and do not require
extensive training.

Applications
The Radio Shuttle can be operated in the
following ways:

With LIFO
This is the most common system, where
incoming and outgoing operations are
performed on the same side.
It is not necessary to move the pallets if the
level is not to be filled.

With FIFO
The goods are inserted on one side and
extracted on the opposite side. This
system is ideal for buffering units between
two areas or when proper rotations are
required.
When the lane is not completely emptied,
the same Radio Shuttle relocates the
pallets by bringing them closer to the exit
positions, allowing new goods to be placed
on the rack.

Safety and control

The pilot lights alert the user of the

battery status and possible malfunction,
as well as to the automatic operating
status (on standby or carrying out a
work order).

Radio Shuttle carts have various

safety systems that adhere to current
safety standards.
Internally, there are electronic
components (PLCs, batteries,
antennae, etc.) that allow it to move
independently.

10

The remote control transmits orders

by radio frequency to the control
devices in each Radio Shuttle.

The position sensors detect the

position of onboard pallets and those
already placed.The antenna enables
communication via radio frequency
with the remote control device.

13

Fall prevention safety device

A safety hook and non-slip surface allows
carts to safely move over the forklift forks.

In addition to the basic operating

tasks, the following functions can
also be performed:
- Low battery level reserve. After
completing a full operation cycle,
the Radio Shuttle is positioned
at the end of the loading lane to
alert the user that its battery is low.
During this time, it will not accept
any new movement orders.
- Stand-by location and pallet
relocation. It operates with
different sized pallets.
- Home function.
The platform drops down and
moves automatically along with the
forklift.
- Rescue function.
A Radio Shuttle cart can be used to
rescue another cart that has broken
down inside the loading lane.

Safety mechanisms and bumpers prevent

possible accidents due to improper use.
Fixed bumpers prevent the shuttle from
falling into the channel while the safety
stopper prevents possible jams or collisions.

EasyWMS Management System

Management System

This software has been designed with

the latest technological standards,
solid databases and internationally
recognized programming languages.
Interlake Mecalux, aware of the high level high
level of performance required by computer
applications used in the industry today, has
created a software development center
responsible for programming, maintaining
and updating EasyWMS.

Software Features
EasyWMS has been designed under the
premise of increasing the efficiency of
your warehouse by coordinating various
warehouse systems including Radio Shuttle.
With EasyWMS, the following functions can
be carried out simply and easily:
-Managing the item base master
-Handling incoming items
-Handling outgoing items
-Inquiries and reports
-Integration
Managing the item base master
When required, the primary warehouse item
data can be entered, removed or modified.
Classification management can also be
applied for several different criteria, or create
different priority orders (located, outgoing
items, etc.) and execute plans according to the
most convenient criteria (rotation, expiration
date, etc.).

Handling incoming items

When entering incoming material in the Radio
Shuttle, EasyWMS guides the user through
the process simply and accurately. Priorities
can be applied to the incoming item process to
handle the material properly.

Handling outgoing items

To handle outgoing material, EasyWMS
provides a practical order preparation
system, handling outgoing orders along an
established route prepared automatically or
by the user. To do this, the software can group
together orders, automatic.

and much more. Inquiries regarding the

status of the warehouse or the location of the
containers and stored merchandise can also be
displayed.

Integration
The Radio Shuttle system can work as an
independent storage system with any other
type of warehouse management software, or
existing warehouse operations.
EasyWMS offers solutions for both
circumstances without having to change
software platforms. Users can also customize
the software according to their warehouse's
level of operational complexity.

Inquiries and reports

Users can make inquiries about the warehouse
status at any time, which can report on incoming
or outgoing items, history, error diagnostics,
