HALFEN HZA -PS C AS T-IN CHANNELS

With the wide range of Halfen Channels
HTA and HZA (see page 4), HALFEN
offers technologically sophisticated
and economic solutions for almost all
anchoring applications in concrete.
Even higher demands are placed on anchoring in safety-relevant areas, such as
nuclear power stations, than is the case
in administration, industry or residential
buildings. Halfen has developed the
HZA-PS product range especially for these
applications. Due to the exceptional
influences, anchoring must also remain
stable in concrete constructions with
wider cracks. These higher requirements
are fulfilled by HZA-PS 29/20, HZA-PS
38/23 and HZA-PS 53/34.

Quality features:
Suitable for applications in safetyrelevant areas

HALFEN TIMBER FIXINGS

Roof and wall:
To secure the position and to prevent
lifting due to wind suction the timber
beams of flat roofs are put on steel concrete ring beams where HALFEN Channels
are cast in with flush surface according to
their load capacity. Timber connection
straps with hammer head are put in the
HALFEN Channels, pushed and nailed to
the timber beams. HALFEN Timber connection straps are a simple, safe and
especially quick method of fixing.
Instead of concrete upturns used in the
past (which required a lot work in view
of formwork and reinforcement) the rafter
shoes are screwed directly on the HALFEN
Channels which are cast in the concrete
slab with flush surface. Thus, loads of
rafter and collar beam roofs with widths
of the rafter from 6 up to 12cm and
different roof pitches can be fixed with
only one type of rafter shoe.

H A L F E N H I T I nsulated Connection

Slab connection elements are heat-insulating elements used for thermal separation
of reinforced concrete structures. In
practice slab connections are used to
avoid mould caused by condensation,
to ensure compliance with increased
building physic requirements and also
to avoid cracks caused by thermal
expansions.
The HALFEN insulated connection HIT-HP/
HIT-SP with patented Compression Shear
Bearings is the first slab connection with
a CE mark.
Because of the ETA-13/0546 Approval
the insulated connections, the calculation
concept as well as the characteristic values
from the building design aspect can be
used in more than 30 countries in Europe
without further approval requirements.
This increases reliability in planning.
Apart from the calculation model and
other construction references, the thermal bridge characteristic values (, min
and fRsi) as well as the difference value
(Ln,W) for footfall noise for a slab connection element are, for the first time,
certified Europe-wide. HALFEN places a
building authority approved reference
with building physic values at the disposal of the user, the basis of which are generally easy to understand with technically regulated details. The patented multipart installation and flexible combination
of the modules means that transportation and storage costs as well as CO2emmisions can be significantly reduced.
The method of combining the elements

2014 HALFEN PG 14-E www.halfen.com

increases the flexibility and planning

certainty in planning in particular for the
prefabrication industry. As standard, all
HALFEN HIT-HP/HIT-SP insulated connections are fire retardant according to REI
120, whereby the fire retardant material
is enclosed and protected in a robust
housing. Incorrect planning or insufficient
installations of the fire retardant requirements as well as damage to the fire retardant material are therefore prevented.
This is the first time tension rods are
anchored using anchor heads in elements
for use in offset applications or wall
connection (HIT-HP/SP .. OD/OU).
This reduces the number of required
elements, simplifies application as well
as handling and results in a simpler reinforcement layout. The combination of
transverse load rebars and C S B in transverse load connections makes maximum
utilisation of all load bearing elements
possible. The shear loads are supported
by the shear load bars as well as by the
Compression Shear Bearings. Limiting
the applicable effective shear load to
VEd 0.3 VRd,max which applies to all
slab connections, can therefore be increased by the load bearing portion of
the Compression Shear Bearings. In the
standard range of application and when
considering all necessary verifications the
HIT-HP/SP-ZV offers the highest loadcarrying capacities. To facilitate calculation of the thermal characteristic values
a HIT Calculator App can be downloaded
from the HALFEN website.

HALFEN Wire sandwich panel anchors are
used to join the load bearing and the
front panel in a multilayer concrete faade slab. They transfer the dead weight of
the front panel as well as the stresses on
it to the load bearing panel. As the anchors are exposed to corrosion in the
area of the air gap and the insulating layer, they are made of stainless steel. In
addition to load bearing anchors, ties or
pins are used to prevent deformation of
the front panel and for wind loads.
