Fully clean the parts to remove residue oil, dirt and scale, unwanted
material, or other surface contaminants by the cleaning method specified
in the EM.
Air dry the parts after aqueous cleaning. Protect the parts from
airborne/handling contamination.

c) Rinse the parts- Stop the effect of the hydrophilic penetrant remover by
one of the following methods (Tick as applicable)

d) Flush interior passages with a small tube until the water runs clear.
Immediately remove pooled water from parts to prevent corrosion
pitting if necessary.

Apply CoMat 06-032 dry developer to the inspection area and permit it to
stay on the part for a minimum of 10 minutes. Remove the unwanted dry
developer by shaking the parts or using dry compressed air at a max. air
pressure of 5 psi (35 KPa).
NOTE: 1. Apply dry developer Immediately after the part has fully dried.
2.For aluminum castings & carbon liners, It is important to have a 1030 min.
penetrant bleed-out time and then apply dry developer only to Indications you are
not sure of. Make an analysis immediately.
3.Parts must not be open to exposure of UV light between process step and
inspection

Inspection of Parts
NOTE: 1. Penetrants and removers must be from the same manufacturer.
2. The inspection area for FPI must be suitably dark with protection from white light.
White light must not be more than 20 Lux (2 foot candles) at the Inspection area.
For local inspection, darken the area with a black sheet.
3. Install the UV-light to prevent glare during the inspection.
4. Do not do continuous visual Insp. for more than 2 hours at one time. There must
be no visual concentration during this time
5. Visual aid s (such as dental mirrors & borescopes) during inspections of surfaces
that are not easy to see by direct vision.
6. Put the UV borescope probe ends from the inspection surface so that you get
optimum light intensity as well as clarity of focus.
7. Parts must be Inspected In less than 2 hours of developing. If time after developing
is more than 2 hours, parts must be cleaned and do procedure again.
8. If there are more than four hours between dry developer & inspection or more
than one hour between non-aqueous developer and inspection, then clean the
parts & do the procedure again.
9. Circle indications & areas that one is not sure of using with one of the approved
temporary marking methods as given in SPP TASK 70-09-01-400501.

2. Examine the parts immediately for a second indication in UVlight. If the second indication is not found, examine the part again
under UV-Light after 10 minutes minimum.
OBSERVATION:
c) Examine the areas which gave the indication, to identify the type of
defect, using binoculars at 3 x to 10x magnification in white light.
OBSERVATION:
d) For parts with no areas in which dry developer can get caught & that are
to go to visual/dimension inspection or engine assembly, remove the
remaining developer powder with clean dry, compressed air. While for
parts in which dry developer can get caught, flush with hot water to
clean.
NOTE: If a non-aqueous developer was used, remove by TASK 70-11-26-300-503.
CAUTION: Be very careful with the Internal holes when removing the developer.
