Section 3: My Core Skills for Work

Highlight the ones you will concentrate on this year. Identify the specific aspects you want to
develop and the strategies you will use, e.g. Plan and organise organise my study time more
effectively use the planner in my phone/diary to schedule my study time and tasks according
to due dates.

Cluster
Navigate
the world
of work

Interact
with
others

Get the
work
done

Specific aspects I want to develop and strategies

Manage career and
work life

Work with roles, rights

and protocols

Communicate for work

Connect and work

with others

Recognise and utilise

diverse perspectives

Plan and organise

Prioritise tasks and allocate time accordingly to

finish the work within the set due date, rather
than rushing in the last minute as I spent most
of my time in a task that is due after this task.
Instead of being stressed out about an
assignment that I couldnt complete in time due
to my weak health I can email the teacher or
talk to her about my situation and explain
myself, as it is in the rights of a student. Rather
than worrying about it, and trying to finish it in a
rush or copy off of a friend.
Greet teachers and colleagues everyday with a
smile promoting positive vibes and energy.
Talk to people or use technology to connect to
them as you build networks. Eg If you need a
science tutor, talking to your classmates might
help you find a tutor.
Do not stick to just one group of people or the
information they provide, enquire more with
others and if possible teachers and draw a
conclusion once you have explored various
perspectives about a problem.
Plan the week ahead in your journal. Look for
assessments and tests that are due in a weeks
advance and plan accordingly to allocate time to
study for it.

Make decisions

Identify and solve

problems

Create and innovate

Work in a digital world

Make smart decisions; Prioritise tasks according

to its importance and deadline if too crowded
this could mean sacrificing some leisure time.
E.g. watching TV
Planning ahead can help you identify a problem
and be alert. Further collaboration with a
teacher the year co or family can help you
organise and solve problems
Rather than doing your work e.g. an oral
presentation in an ordinary way find ways to be
innovative and creative e.g. Use visual aid
(Power Point Presentation)
Keep up with technology and learn to operate
new programs as it could also help with learning
faster and better also lets you be more creative
and innovative.
