1. Your idea.
During my proposal I wanted to focus on the struggles students entering college face, mainly
on choosing a major to pursue in. Although in my essay I mainly focused on to inform the reader
about how many students are unsure or change their major through their college years, while also
showing some consequences of waiting to choose a major suited for them. I changed this because
it depicted my struggles with college and informed me of some consequences of staying in
college for too long.
2. Your Research.
In my exploration for usable resources to piece together my paper i found my five sources
surprisingly fast. Using Proquest I was able to find 1 academic based and 2 news articles based
on my topic. I was able to find another credible source because my teacher showed me it to
provide information on students rapidly changing their major. Then I recalled a deeper meaning I
perceived from the movie Inside Out that I was able to use to connect to college students
struggles with college.
3. The effect of your research on your direction.

While conducting my research I was most surprised with the high percentages of college
students unsure of what to pursue in or even the percentages of students that change their major. I
didnt really find any information that I didnt expect. All the information I found was within
reason and didnt come as a shock. I believe I found the appropriate amount of information to
fully write and make my essay informative. My research didnt expand or narrow my topic any
bit, it stayed focused on the initial topic I picked.
4. The writing of your essay.
I dont think my senior exit project helped, although my English 111 class definitely did help
me. I was able to incorporate formal writing and use the proper MLA format to inform my
audience. I chose to write formally because it makes the paper seem more proper and well put
together.
5. Your critique group.
My critique group wasnt as helpful as a wished. On the first day everyone was more open
and willing help each other but as the class went by everyone seemed to be working on their own
work.
6. Your life as a researcher.
This project was very similar to my persuasive essay for my English 111 class. I had to find a
lot of credible resources to help support my argument. During this project, creating the annotated
bibliography adding three paragraphs for each source was a new experience for me.
7. Your life as a learner.

I learned that Im not alone. I found out that there are a lot of students that are unsure or end
up changing their major. In my research I found that close to 80 percent of students end up
changing their major. If a student is still in college after thirty credits over the initial amount to
graduate then their tuition will double. This fact is just shocking and unreasonable.
