THE TODMORDEN AND RENDLESHAM FOREST

UFO CLOSE ENCOUNTERS

Introduction
England experienced arguably its two most spectacular close
encounter UFO cases less than one month apart from one
another. These were Todmorden (November 1980) and
Rendlesham Forest (December 1980). It is therefore possible
or even probable that the UFO seen was the same craft in
both close encounters.

We can rule out hallucinations

Todmorden, November 1980: Both the Todmorden and
Rendlesham cases were multi-witness UFO encounters.
Todmorden is a market town in West Yorkshire. Its
population is a small 15,000. The main witness of the
Todmorden UFO was a Policeman called Alan Godfrey. It
was pitch black as it was late November (the 28th) and 5
oclock in the morning. He was driving back to the police
station to sign off duty when he was dramatically forced to
stop his police car due to a spectacular UFO blocking the
road. The craft was described by Godfrey as diamond
shaped. Godfrey adds the bottom half of the object was
spinning [and] it was hovering about 5 feet off the ground.
Godfrey began to sketch what he was seeing.

Godfreys sketch of the UFO.

The next thing that Godfrey was aware of was that he was
at the other side of the object and it had gone. Godfrey
found himself 50 to 100 yards further away from where he
witnessed the craft and said that he experienced missing
time. The missing time was the most puzzling aspect of the
experience that played on Godfreys mind. However this was
not an hallucination. There were several other witnesses of
the UFO in the same area on the same night. School
caretaker, Leonard Smith said that he saw the UFO in
roughly the same area that Godfrey saw it except in
Smiths case the UFO was airborne. Smith says that the
craft shot across the valley four times backwards and
forwards and then vanished over the hills. There were also
five other police witnesses of the UFO. One of those police
officers was John Porter. At 4 oclock in the morning he (and
other police officers) witnessed the UFO in the sky and
Porter was astounded by its speed that he estimated as
travelling twelve miles in one second. Clearly this was not
an hallucination of Godfreys as there are six other witnesses
2

of the craft. Given that it was 4am 5am you cannot expect
more witnesses than that in a small market town. My
theory, as I will explain, is that we are not dealing with ET.
But we are dealing with human intelligence that has craft
that has anti-gravity capabilities, manipulates space and
time and indeed manipulates innocent human beings.
These human beings see something that they deem to be
impossible. When they experience a close encounter they are
overwhelmed by what they are seeing. But this is only
because they have never seen such a craft before because
they are highly secretive projects. They do not expect to be
stood right next to such a craft. The craft has physical and
psychological effects on the witness. The experience of
missing time is common. Not surprisingly when the witness
undergoes hypnotic regression to discover what was
happening in the period of missing time, they project the
cultural assumption onto the experience: alien abduction.
This has the advantage of wrongly discrediting the close
encounter and benefits the unknown agenda of the
manipulators.

Rendlesham Forest, December 1980: The Rendlesham

Forest (Suffolk) case is Englands most famous ever UFO
close encounter and it happened less than 1 month after
Todmorden. It is a classic and ought perhaps to be the
number 1 case of all-time as its key witnesses are all still
3

alive. Rendlesham was a U.S. military base in Suffolk,

England. This is highly relevant because it is therefore, as
good as certain that a choice was made by the intelligence
behind the UFO to land here. Afterall nuclear weapons were
also located right next door to the military base.
The craft that was seen in Todmorden was almost certainly
either the same one as was seen at Todmorden or was a
different craft but constructed by the same designers. The
UFO at Rendlesham landed on two different nights over the
Christmas period. On the first night Jim Penniston and
John Burroughs experienced a close encounter. Penniston
went right up to the craft and touched it. He also sketched it
as Godfrey had sketched the Todmorden UFO a month
earlier.

Pennistons sketch of the UFO

Former USAF Staff Sgt. Jim Penniston said of his close

encounter It was a triangular craft. The fabric of the craft
4

was black like glass. And then throughout the fabric of the
craft, there was some coloring varying from saucer-shaped to
pie-shaped circles that moved around the craft. Some were
red and blue, some yellow or orange I guess more orange.
there were [symbolic] markings on the craft, which were
very unusual.
More significantly, Penniston experienced missing time.
Penniston explains Heres something that is odd. I lost
track of John for like 45 minutes or so. I dont know where
he was. There was like a 45-minute gap of time there, which
seemed like I dont know a couple of minutes. I dont
know what caused the distortion.
Pennistons next recollection of Burroughs was when the
blinding white flash of light (that Godfrey also experienced)
occurred. Penniston says that When the light on the craft
started to generate to a more white, brilliant light is when I
backed away from the craft. John (then) was maybe 15 feet
away, 20 feet away, standing there. The blinding light
panicked Penniston. He says I was not sure what it [i.e., the
UFO] was going to do. I dont know explode? Or? The craft
lifted off the forest floor, went to treetop level, and took off at
an extreme rate of speed and John and I stood up. Nothing
that I know of could be gone in a blink of an eye.
The craft returned two nights later and this time multiple
military personnel witnessed it, including Deputy Base
Commader Colonel Halt. People who lived near the military
base also witnessed the UFO. Hence, we can safely say that
again, this was no hallucination.
As with Godfrey, the hypnotic regression is not good
evidence because the mind can project to fill the gap in
missing time. But again, as with Godfrey, the witnessing of
the craft is real as so many witnesses saw it.

Conclusion

Englands two most spectacular close encounter cases

occurred almost at the same time. They were not
hallucinations. This is due to the fact that there are
witnesses from slightly different vantage points, and from
different times (an hour difference in the Todmorden case,
two days difference in Rendleshams case as the craft
returned).
Occams Razor almost rules out the Extraterrestrial
hypothesis. Occams Razor insists on the human hypothesis.
A lot of emphasis is placed on the extraordinary view and
capability of these UFOs. And its true that they do seem to
be super-advanced. But we mustnt therefore throw-out
human design for ET. In both Todmorden and Rendlesham
cases we are told that there was a blinding flash of light
emanating from the craft. Godfrey and Penniston
reconstruct their reaction to this white light by throwing
their arms infront of their face. But we must note that (in
both cases) it was pitch black November/December in
England. If it had been day time in boiling hot Madrid
maybe the blinding light would have seemed a lot less
spectacular. Indeed, these UFO craft will have appeared far
more spectacular, per se, in the dark than if they had been
6

witnessed in daylight. Burroughs and Penniston noted that

the craft vertically lifted off and then was gone in the blink
of an eye. Recall though, that the Nazis were trying to
achieve vertical lift-off in the 1940s. Now in 2016 the UK
has the Taranis Stealth Drone, see below and this is all
out in the open. But imagine if it was seen in Todmorden
parked infront of a police car in the pitch black. If it lights
up then maybe the witness would mistake it for a never seen
before spectacular UFO. Just look at it, wheres its windows?
I think that windowless UFOs impress people. How do you
get inside? The answer is that its an unmanned craft but
the witness wouldnt know that would (s)he.

Britains Taranis Craft.

The secrecy surrounding these UFOs is whats weird. Its

that manipulative aspect that is puzzling. If you land an
unfamiliar, never seen before, sci-fi looking craft in
7

Todmorden (or even in a military base) then you are treating

humans like lab rats. You are experimenting discovering
how they will respond. This seems to be a never-ending
experiment with only a tiny clique in the know. At
Rendlesham, even Deputy Base Commander Colonel Halt,
has never been told what the two 1980 UFO incidents were
all about.
