Krakow 1997 - 2015, Historic Property Valuation conferences, ten

thematic meetings appraisers

In May this year took place on the tenth, organized every two years by the Association of Valuers
Lesser Poland in Krakow, meeting appraisers and supporters of the historical heritage of historic
buildings - WAZA 2015. The meeting, whose leitmotif is a historic property valuation, held in
Krakow since 1997 . Tenth WAZA - a beautiful Jubilee and as befits such a great event, it is worth
reflecting on the past time and a summary.

Each of the ten conference dealt with

a different kind of monuments. United them beauty, uniqueness, rarity, diversity of architectural,

artistic detail design, equipment and legal, economic and historical. On the following conferences
attempted to answer the question of whether these wonderful, unusual objects have an impact on
our daily lives and to what extent changing our perception of reality. Ratings and reviews were
different, because the time mismanagement and managing caused that as a result of negligence
irretrievably lost their character and unique beauty.
Prof. Assoc. Eng. Arch. Peter Michael Patoczka, Three views of Krakow Barbican.

The conference sought to bring participants through workshops, ways and means valuations of
these exceptional objects, taking into account each time their specificity, the value read details
of the centuries, and even their souls and secrets. These were not easy tasks, because it required a
great commitment, the team of social workers of the organization, the topics, editing, artistic
setting and entertaining and vast knowledge. The adventure related to the organization of
thematic conferences started a group of people in 1996, were and are people in love monuments,
and where as not in Krakow could it come true. On each stone is written here, history and
national heritage.Precursors of regular meetings of appraisers were the then President PFVA
Andrew Callus, Adam Eliasiewicz, May Bogdani, Dorothy Kram, Leszek Zajczkowski and my
person. Then, they joined by Jola Nosek - Haich, Lech Tarnawski, Leszek Duck, Marzena Gulba,
Christopher Bartus, Maria Noworl, and recently even Bozena Chol. It is difficult to mention all
the people, because there were many, but it's hard not specify one, which always lay the
responsibility for the topicality, selection of faculty, setting and practical workshop property
valuer. This person is known to everybody, modest, factual, full involvement, May Bogdani. With
its commitment everyone made use of her knowledge and potential of creative thought.
Ten of conferences that 19 years of social work team of people, the time spent for the good of us
all. For the record I recall briefly the subject of our next meetings.

The first conference, which took place in 1997., Involved in most of the historic buildings of
various kinds, which, due to the market have been adapted to the new functions. These were
located in Krakow: Depot St. Lawrence, Puget Palace or Villa Decius. A rarity as for the
participants, as well as the press and television was a discussion on the valuation of the zero-class
monument, which is the Cloth Hall on the Market Krakow.
The second conference was an international conference, concerned the discussion on the
introduction of the standard (training) on the valuation of historic properties. In this theme we
were precursors - despite the short of professional experience in the international arena - which
resulted in a high assessment to the Conference by foreign guests. As in the previous case, the
Conference was held in the frame of special places like Theatre. Julius Slovak and underground
Wieliczka Salt Mine.
The conference is the third encounter with the problems teams manor park, rural and urban
residences, the legacy of confrontation and sometimes too bold intervention and change, not
corresponding to the architecture of the former buildings of the court.
The fourth conference is the issue of heritage, prospects and value of the property of the
Jews. The Conference, familiarizing the participants with Jewish culture and history of this
culture, at the same time terminator approaching legal issues related to the restitution of
property owned by private citizens of Polish and general issues of re-privatization.
The Fifth Conference under the patronage and presence of His Excellency Metropolitan Archbishop
of Krakow Cardinal Franciszek Macharski familiarized participants with the historical legacy of
sacred objects, their purpose and "soul".The meeting appraisers, managers of sacred objects,
architects and conservators did not resolve the issue of determining the value of sacred objects,
because in this difficult matter is the space "holy" sacred that can not be neither weighed nor
measured in terms of value, however, the conference brought closer to us historical values
inherited from centuries .

The sixth conference focused on the objects of the castle, methods of management and
development. Each of these monuments is a separate chapter histone other economic conditions
and ownership, and vary the integrity of the space and the immediate surroundings.
The theme of the next, the seventh Conference of Historical Property Valuation former town
houses. The conference had the task of showing us the urban dimension of the building and its
surroundings, form the architectural and artistic detail of the decor and fittings.
Eighth Conference of the terminator approaching historic historical conditions of the underworld
and their legal situation. For example Mine in Wieliczka pointed out historical aspects,
conservation and tourism underground workings. In contrast, such a gold mine in Zloty Stok
introduced us adaptability mine workings for tourism, as well as technical and legal problems of
space.
The ninth conference focused on modernism in architecture of the nineteenth and twentieth
centuries. Assumptions of this style is a departure from the styling and historical circumstances,
and close to a cohesive composition, sound design and functionalism, which showed specific
examples of objects in Warsaw and other Polish cities.
