Obesity is a pathological condition that caused by consuming food far exceed the
needs that make an excessive accumulation of fat. Obesity can occur in all ages,
including adolescents that the incidence of obesity in adolescents is increasing every
year. One cause of obesity is psychology factor that stress can cause behavioral disorders
such as abnormal eating behavior (excessive) and leads to obesity. This study aimed to
describe stress in State Senior High School Students in Pekanbaru and the relationship
with obesity. The type of this research was analytic with cross sectional approach. The
sample was selected by using multistage purposive sampling with minimal sample was
132 respondents. Most of state senior high school students in pekanbaru did not stress
(normal) as many as 65.2%. Most of students did not stress was found in male students
and obesity students. Most of mild stress, moderate stress and average stress was found
in female students and student without obesity. Based on Kolmogorov- Smirnov test, it
was obtained that the value of significancy was 0.225, because p> 0.05, it could be
concluded that there was no relationship between stress and obesity.
