Flier
Description: Black and white flier to inform about the leadership
seminar.
Date: 11 May, 2016
Audience: College graduates
Message: I wanted to emphasize the importance of the conference to
those graduates who would be looking for desirable leadership skills for
employers.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS principles): I created a few
sketches to gather ideas and see them on paper. After I had a skeleton
of my plan, I used Adobe InDesign to create the flier. I wanted to do
create a good focal point on the title, so I used a black background to
contrast it from the rest of the flier. The photo is placed on the top right
to balance. The image and logo were given to me.

Event Ad
Description: A color full-bleed event ad to promote a fundraiser
using only Microsoft Word and a scanner.
Date: 15 May 2016
Audience: Those looking for a fun event and/or to help a worthy
cause.
Message: To advertise this fictional fundraiser.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS principles): I scanned the
image off a print I own personally. I changed the resolution to be a
higher quality. I cropped the picture to make it more narrow and
more interesting. I then used shapes to create the vertical blocks at
the left. I wanted the smaller two lines to add focus. Im also using
them to align with the text to the left. The rest is left blank to create
negative space and draw focus up.

Photodesign
Description: Demonstrate good photography and image editing.
Use the image in a poster layout.
Date: 22 May 2016
Audience: Anyone who spends too much time on their personal
electronics, especially young people.
Message: We shouldnt spend time on things that dont matter over
those that do; material possessions over loved ones.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS principles): First I decided what I wanted my message to be. Once I knew what I wanted to
convey, I came up with a photo idea, and my girlfriend and I were
able to take the photo and edit it. We wanted to make a dreary,
sad image to add intensity. we darkened the overall color saturation, while leaving ourselves normal. We also did a vignette0-style
boarder to increase the focus in the middle. After finishing the
photo, I came up with a monochromatic red color scheme, using
a lot of gray and black to complement the photo. The darkness
helped add to the theme I wanted. I added in the red bars to make
it more dynamic and balanced. The text at the bottom was done in
white for contrast. Finally, I added three more rectangles with the
color swaths I used, per the assignment requirements.

Montage
Description: I made a montage using three different images and text at
the bottom.
Date: 29 May 2016
Audience: Anyone who is going through challenges.
Message: Its taken from the scripture, Helaman 5:12. The rock is symbolic of Jesus Christ. The message is that if we build our lives upon His
teachings, no storm will be strong enough to knock us down.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, Steps taken while designing): The
entire project was done in Photoshop. I found the images online, starting first with the rock, then the outcropping, and finally the man. The
bottom layer was the rock and the ocean. We added that first, and then
added in the stormy sky as a mask. I liked the color of the sky more
than that of the ocean, so I kept that and darkened the ocean to match
the storm. I kept the rock the same color to add contrast and draw the
eye. It was a little difficult to blend the two images, but it worked out.
After that, I added the text at the bottom. We made the color match
the ocean and sky, and added a bit of a drop shadow to it to made it
more pronounced. Finally I added the man last, cropping him out and
adding another mask. His head was slightly darkened to match the
mood of the rest of the image.

Logo
Description: A logo for a fictitious company called Rexburgers.
Date: 5 June 2016
Audience: Hungry college students in Rexburg.
Message: To create an image for a burger place that is modern and
fun.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): It was a little difficult learning Adobe Illustrator, but after trying out a few different ideas and drafts, I
came up with this main design. I used a font I felt matched the attitude the company has as a modern, casual hamburger joint. I used
the smart-shape tool to create the burger buns and placed them
around the name. After finishing the original, I added two variationsone in greyscale and one in white against a black background.

Stationery
Description: A letterhead along with a business card I created for myself.
Date: 16 June 2016
Audience: Anyone needed graphic help.
Message: To inform people about my business.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I used both Adobe Illustrator and
Adobe InDesign for this project. I used Illustrator to create the logo,
and then I transferred the image over into InDesign. I then created
two separate documents, one being the letterhead and the other the
business card. On the letterhead, I wanted to create something simple,
but streamline and dynamic. I had planned on adding a watermark,
but removed it after my original draft. The card was straightforward,
but I felt it needed more after my original. I added the black back to
give it more interest.

Web Design
Description: A website I created to display my logo.
Date: 26 June 2016
Audience: Anyone who would like a logo designed for them.
Message: I can created a simple, professional logo for companies.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): First, I modified a logo I had previously created in Adobe Illustrator. After exporting the image from
there, I created an .html document to build the site. I added information to the html, specifically about my process and logo. After finishing
the actual content of the page, I added a .css file to the .html to create
a more aesthetic design. I center-aligned the title and logo, and then
changed the color scheme and fonts to make it more appealing. After a
few more changes with spacing, I was done!

Brochure
Description: A two-sided folding brochure and logo I made for a
fictitious fan club for the Arizona Cardinals.
Date: 10 July 2016
Audience: Arizona Cardinals fans.
Message: Arizona Cardinal fans should join this awesome fan club!
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I started by making the logo (for
the House of Cards) in Adobe Illustrator. I used a rectangle shape
with two lines for a roof. Inside of that I entered my text, arranging it
to form a box of sorts. Next I created the layout in InDesign. I placed
my logo and four other images I cut up in Photoshop into the layout,
and made a black background. Next, I added my text. Finally I arranged it to be smooth and flow better.
