ERP Insights, Market Trends

ERP is a $30B market, dominated by larger players like SAP, Oracle, Infor and Microsoft. However, newer players like
FinancialForce, Anaplan, Kenandy have also been generating a lot of buzz.
Conventional players used to offer traditional on-premise based solutions. However, an increasing cloud adoption by newly
founded companies and customers alike is forcing conventional players to move into cloud.
While newly founded companies are building cloud based solutions from scratch, bigger players are moving into cloud
through acquisitions. SAP, for example, has acquired Ariba, a cloud based network for buyers and suppliers in 2012. It has
also acquired Concur, a cloud based Travel and Expense Management solution in 2013.
While there is increasing cloud adoption, traditional on-premise solutions is not going away anytime soon. Many of the
customers still have apprehensions on data security in cloud.
Small and Medium Businesses are primarily adopting SaaS solutions owing to lesser upfront capital.
ERP is evolving beyond traditional back office functionalities, and is including Business Intelligence (BI) to provide real time
insights into data, rather than just being a data management tool.
ERP vendors are trying to differentiate themselves by offering solutions to niche industries and User Interfaces for better
customer experiences.
2015 has witnessed lot of M&A activity. In 2015, Dancik International got acquired by Kerridecs , Ellucian got acquired by
TPG . Aptean acquired Computron Software and Medworxx Solutions.
ERP vendors are also focusing on innovating mobile solutions to help business executives manage their businesses on the go.
