3 Technical Description
When handling the voice-related problems, especially the problems related to the signaling procedure
and performance, you need to analyze the signaling over the A interface, Abis interface, or Um
interface. The common method is drive test (DT) or dialing test. Together with the traced data obtained
by the signaling tracer, the signaling can be analyzed. This process, however, is very complex and
expensive.
The cell tracing log facilitates the location of the network problem. You can directly trace calls in the
existing network, thus saving the cost of the DT and dialing test for locating the problem.
Compared with the A interface tracing, Abis interface tracing, or Um tracing function, the cell tracing
function enables the simultaneous tracing of the signaling over the A interface, Abis interface, and Um
interface in a window. Compared with the single user tracing function, the cell tracing function can
directly trace the signaling of a maximum of 16 users in a cell without specifying the user ID.
The cell tracing procedure is as follows:
1. Start the Cell Tracing function on the M2000.
2. The BSC traces the calls of the specified cell. A maximum of 16 users in the cell can be traced at a
time. The Cell Tracing feature follows the first-in first-tracing principle. After a tracing task is started, the
first 16 calls that gain access to the network in the cell to be traced are traced. If a call is complete, a
new call is traced.
You can choose the cells to be traced on the basis of the CELLID. The GBSC supports the saving and reviewing of the
traced logs. You can also choose to trace only the signaling on the A interface, Abis interface, or the Um interface.
