but feel that God the Holy Ghost had guided our deliberations.
You may have been worried by much talk of changes to come.
Allow me to reassure you. No change will worry the tranquillity
of your Christian lives. As the months will pass, gradually the
Holy Father will instruct us how to put into effect the enact
ments of the Council. With complete loyalty as children of the
one true Church we fully accept each and every decree of the

Council.'

The Fifth Pobal Conference of Lay People. The theme of the

next Pobal conference of lay people will be 'Shaping the Chris
tian Future'. The weekend conference will begin at 7.45 p.m. on
Friday, 22 February 1991, with a keynote address by Ann Louise

Gilligan. Other speakers will include Maureen Sheehy, Nora

Brennan, Fr Denis Carroll, Fr Eltin Griffin and members of local

Christian groups in Dublin and Killarney. Over the weekend the

conference will discuss and reflect on aspects of spirituality and
formation that are central to the realization of the Christian

vision: partners in mission; intergenerational problems and

potentials; women's spirituality; ecology and spirituality; prayer
and formation. The programme will follow the pattern of recent

Pobal conferences in seeking a blend between formal talks,

prayer, discussion and personal sharing by participants in small

groups. It is hoped in this way to provide the greatest possible
encouragement to everybody present to participate.
Everybody with an interest in these issues is welcome. The
registration fee is ?20 (?10 unwaged). Registration at door or,
for further information, please phone (01) 884212 or (01) 982483
any evening.

Women's Spirituality - A correction. Apologies to Helen Sheehy

for the misprint which occurred in her article on 'Women's
Spirituality' (The Furrow, January 1991) page 9. Line 6 of the
quotation from The Color Purple should read, 'God ain't a he

or a she, but a it . . .'
