iTC Basic Functions

In GSM network, transcoder implements the voice encoding and
decoding between 16 kbps RPE-LTP (Regular Pulse ExcitationLong Term Prediction) voice coding format and 64 kbps A law
PCM. ZXG10 iTC is a 3G based transcoder resource pool with
large capacity. It provides a combine transcoder resource to
connect several iBSCs with MSC through the combine link for
dynamic sharing.
Implementation of iTC saves the transmission resources at Ater
interface and intelligently controls the transmission between
iBSCs and MSC.

iTC Networking Structure

iTC connects to multiple iBSCs on Ater interface and to multiple
MSC on A-interface. One iTC rack can provide the transcoding
function to 16 iBSCs. The A-interface is between iTC and MSC

cannot be called a pure A-interface because it only provides

voice services. Figure 1 shows the iTC network structure.
