To Whom It May Concern: Please accept the enclosed application for a teaching position in the Primary/Junior division with your school board. Having graduated from Bishops University with a degree in Educational Studies and having completed the Master of Teaching Program at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, I am confident that I have gained the necessary skills and knowledge to make an immediate contribution in your school board. I am certain that my diverse educational experiences and commitment to ongoing professional and lifelong learning will benefit the students and stakeholders in your school district. I aspire to teach in a school board where the uniqueness of all students is valued, embraced and encouraged. I strongly believe in creating safe and inclusive learning environments, with a focus on educating the whole student, to help students reach their full potential and develop into knowledgeable, productive and caring citizens of society. At George Syme Community School, a multicultural school in the Model Schools for Inner City Program with the Toronto District School Board, I was committed to learning about each of my students backgrounds and focused on embedding culturally relevant and authentic learning experiences into my teaching. In my past teaching experiences, I used a range of instructional strategies that were inclusive, equitable and empowering. I planned lessons that appealed to multiple intelligences, used a variety of engaging resources, and provided students with opportunities to learn independently, in cooperative learning groups, and as a whole class. In order to effectively respond to the strengths and needs of all of my students, I provided differentiated instruction and applied principles of the Universal Design for Learning framework. My research in the Master of Teaching Program focused on how to effectively integrate technology into the elementary classroom. I believe that all students can excel in thoughtfully planned digital classrooms that focus on opportunities for collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. As a 21st century teacher, I am committed to providing students with the tools and skills they require to live and flourish in todays digital world. At Millwood Junior School, I taught various lessons about Online Safety and Digital Citizenship to ensure safe and responsible technology use. As a teacher in your school board, I would be thrilled to extend my leadership beyond the classroom and lead extra-curricular activities and promote healthy and active living. In my past teaching practicums, I had the opportunity to get to know students outside of the classroom through assisting with clubs such as a literacy and numeracy club, a prayer club, and a mentoring and tutoring club. I am excited about the opportunity to build positive learning environments and contribute to the success of the students in your school board. Thank you for taking the time to review my application and I look forward to meeting you at your earliest convenience to discuss joining your team of outstanding teachers. Sincerely,
