background),oilpastels,pencils,nonwrinklingadhesiveformountingthepicture(teacherand
paraproscanassistwithhandlingoftherubbercement,yespaste,ortackyglue)

attachittocanvasboard,andaddcolorandbackgroundinformationusingoilpastel.

Day1

Demonstration
(5minutes):Withaprintedpictureinhand,Iwilldemonstratehowto
glueapictureontothecanvasboardasflataspossible,leavingspaceontheboardforsome
backgrounddetails.Whentheimageisglued,Iwillshowsomeoilpastelmarksandwaysto
blendcolor.
GuidedPractice
:wewillworkwithstudentsinalternatingteamssoaparaorteacher
canwalkeachstudentthroughthemountingwhiletheremainingstudentsexperimentwiththe
oilpastels.
Cleanup5min
:Studentswillwipethepastelsandputthemaway,putworkaway,and
wipethetables.

Day2:

Review
:repeattheproject,affirmtheworkfortheday,encouragethemfortheworkthey
did.Makeconnectionstotheirotherartworkswitheachstudentwhenpossible.Sendstudents
totheirseatswithwork,remindthemwearecoloringtheportraits,remindthemaboutblending,
remindthemaboutbackground.
GuidedPractice
(20minutes)Workwithstudentsindividuallyasneeded.Uphold
standards:i.e.foreground/background,near/far,useofcolorandmaterials,controlledlike
quality,etc.

Assessment
:
Assessmentforthisperiodisfocusedonobservationandlookingforimprovementand
engagement,andforsome,lookingforaplanthatwasimplementedwithpurpose.This
informationwillbeusedtomakefuturelessonplansbasedonthestudentsexperiences.
