Clinical Trials
A prospective, phase II, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial was
successfully conducted in India after taking the necessary approvals.
For this trial 120 patients were screened out which 84 patients were recruited after confirmation of
calculi of size 4-9 mm by non-contrast computerized tomography (CT scan) before and after
completion of the treatment. The results were analyzed by student T-test and Chi-square test.
Test Results
65 patients completed the trial of total 84 recruited
patients. In the treatment group there was 21.34%
reduction in the surface area of calculi (p < 0.02)
while in the placebo group 8.98% increase a in the
size of calculi was observed. The rate of expulsion
was significantly higher in the treatment group as
compared to placebo group. Also, there was
significant reduction and increase in the density of
renal calculi in treated group & placebo group
respectively.
