Confirm termination/connection in accordance with job specification
PINGING ACTIVITY
Objective: To check whether two computers are connected with each other.
Do the following:
1. Plug each end of the LAN RJ45 Ethernet cable into an Ethernet network port on each
computer to connect the computers together with a cable
PC1

Go to My Computer > Properties > Computer Name.

Change the computer name to A and workgroup name to ABC, and click OK to save
changes.

Go to Control Panel > Network Connections.

Right click on your LAN connection and select Properties.

Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) > Properties.

Enter these values:


a. IP Address - 192.168.0.1
b. Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0

Leave the other fields blank and click OK to save changes.


PC2

Go to My Computer > Properties > Computer Name.

Change the computer name to B and workgroup name to ABC, and click OK to save
changes.

Go to Control Panel > Network Connections.

Right click on your LAN connection and select Properties.

Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) > Properties.

Enter these values:


a. IP Address - 192.168.0.2
b. Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0
Leave the other fields blank and click OK to save changes.
2. Restart the PCs
3. Check the connection by pinging one PC from the other.
For PC-1, Start > Run > CMD > ping 192.168.0.2
For PC-2, Start > Run > CMD > ping 192.168.0.1

Confirm termination/connection in accordance with job specification
Given two computers connected in a peer-to-peer network. Confirm termination and connection
between the two PCs in a given time. Modify the network settings on one of the computers to
establish the cable connection and share a file.
