POOJA ROOM VASTU

Pooja room is a zone of serenity where we connect to the eternal energies GOD, who bestows his
presence within us to guide us to the right paths of our life. Placement of a Pooja room into our houses
itself produces positive vibes in the atmosphere.
Certain rules which one must follow before the commencement of designing a pooja room are
mentioned below.

IDEAL LOCATION FOR POOJA ROOM

The location of the Pooja room should always be in the North-East corner. It can also be in the
North or East side of the house.
Never locate the Puja room in the south and the south-east, as these directions are ruled by Yama
and Agni, respectively.
Pooja room should not be placed in the bedroom.
Pooja room should not be made above, below, adjacent or opposite to toilet.
Pooja room should also not be constructed next to the kitchen or located under a staircase. In case
you do make the Puja space in the kitchen, keep the deity in such a way that you face east while
praying.
Make the roof of the Puja room dome or pyramid-shaped. This facilitates smooth flow of positive
energies from the tip to the dome or pyramid into the puja room. This shape also assists in
meditation.
Ideally, the doors and windows of this room should open towards the east or north. These should
be made of good quality wood and have double shutters.
The colors used in Pooja room should be very serene like white, soft shades of yellow, blue or
violet.
PLACING OF IDOLS
Idols can be placed in the North-East, East or West of Pooja.
The height of idols should not be more than 18 inches and should always be placed on a high
platform or singhasan..
Although north-east is generally the direction recommended for locating the idols or pictures of
various Gods; yet different deities have different auspicious locations as described:
Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh, Kartikeya, Indra and Surya are placed in the east and facing towards west.
Ganesh, Durga, Kuber, Shodas Matrika and Bhairav in the north direction and facing south.
Hanuman in the north-east facing south-west, but never in the south-east as it creates fire
hazard.
While worshipping, the legs of the idol should be at the chest level of the person worshipping
depending on the position, whether standing or sitting.
Nothing should be kept or stored above the cabinet or slab where the Gods idol is placed.
Never display photographs of the dead family members along with the deities.
Broken idols or torn pictures should not be placed in the Puja room
Idols should not be placed facing each other.
Idols should be placed at least a inch away from the wall.
PLACING OF THE POOJA THINGS
The lamp should always be placed in front of the idol of God and Goddesses.
The lamp or deepak should be placed in the south-east direction, governed by Agni
All the things required in performing Puja should be placed in the South-East direction of the
Puja Room.
Avoid a bell in the Puja room.
MISCELLANEOUS TIPS
Never keep a dustbin in the Puja room, as the positive energy gets diminished due to the
negative energies emitted by it.
One shall not enter the Pooja room for any purpose without washing his legs and hands.
Cleaning the feet by rubbing them against each other is prohibited. The left hand must clean
them and the water must be poured by the right hand. Reared side of the feet must always be
cleaned first.
In Pooja room, copper vessels only shall be used particularly where water is collected.

 Triangular place for any God should not be drawn in the Puja Room.
The Agnikund should be in the southeast direction of the worship room. The sacred offerings to
the fire should be made with the face towards the east

How to Make Your Pooja Room Vastu Compliant?

Making a pooja room vastu shastra compliant is a two step process.
The first step that you need to take is to locate the pooja room obviously in the most auspicious way. Now,
to help you to identify the best possible location for a pooja or prayer room in your home, I have made an
image, which reveals to you the best location for a pooja room in a home as per vastu shastra.

As you may see in the image above that the best place to locate pooja room is the North-East corner of your
home. However due to any reason if the North-East corner is unavailable then you can make the pooja
room in East or West side of your home.
The next and the last step to make a vastu compliant pooja room is to follow all vastu tips and guidelines for
pooja room which are mentioned below.

Pooja Room Vastu Tips:

What You Must Follow
1. As per pooja room vastu, north-east corner of home is best site for pooja place.
2. East and west are second best locations.
3. Keep the pooja place on ground floor.
4. In big plots or factories etc. construct pooja ghar at center; this is very auspicious.
5. Keep the idols in east and/or west of the prayer room.
6. Place the idols a few inches (at least an inch) away from wall.

7. Make sure that all the idols are always in perfect condition.
8. Have two shutter door of high quality wood for prayer room.
9. Pooja Room can have doors and windows in north or east walls.
10. White or light yellow colored marble work in prayer room makes it more auspicious.
11. Use white, light yellow or light blue colors for walls of pooja room.
12. You can place a lamp stand in the pooja room in south-east or eastern side.
13. If the roof of pooja room is pyramid shape then its very auspicious.
14. You can place an Agnikund in the prayer room in south-east corner.
15. Keep showcases and almirahs towards west or south walls.
16. Entrance of pooja place must have a threshold.
17. If the prayer area is in kitchen then keep it in the north-east corner of kitchen; you should face east
while praying.
What You Must Avoid
1. The pooja place should never be in south direction.
2. Do not have pooja place in a store-room.
3. Avoid pooja place in any bedroom. However if there is no option then use the north-east corner of the
bedroom as pooja place (but remember this is the last and least favored option). Also remember that
while sleeping or lying on bed your feet should not point towards this corner.
4. Never make pooja room in basement or first or above floors.
5. Do not have prayer place above, below or next to any toilet or kitchen.
6. Avoid pooja room or place under a staircase.
7. Idols should never face south.
8. Do not chisel off the wall to make place for keeping idols.
9. Never keep broken idols.
10. Idols should never be directly in front of the entrance door of prayer room.
11. Never keep the idols brought from old temples in the prayer room.

12. Women should not enter the prayer room during menses.
13. Scenes or photos of crime, battles or of any negative emotions are a strict no in the pooja place.
Actually you must avoid them in your entire home.
14. Do not hang photos of animals and birds in the pooja place.
15. Never have photos of passed away people in the pooja area.
16. Never keep a dustbin in the pooja place; it reduces positive energy of the room.
17. No one should sleep in the prayer room (except if the prayer room is in bedroom).
18. Dont keep the items in the pooja area that do not belong there.
19. Never ever under any circumstance conceal any money or other valuables in pooja place.

Lakshmi Narasimha Mantra for removing all problems in life

I'm now presenting you all, one of the best sadhana's that can overcome any problems in life.
This sadhana(practice) helps in removing negativity and calamities and also promotes general
happiness.
Lord Narasimha swamy is one of the fiercest gods that there is and he is best when it comes to
protecting his devotees. Hence this sadhana is very useful as a protective shield all that is
problematic in life.
So chant the below mantra a minimum of 1000 times a day and you can see the effects in 3
months. It is important that you do not break the process as the effectiveness reduces with
breaks in the sadhana.
Preferable have vegetarian food otherwise chant the below mantra in the morning after bath and
before having food. The reason to avoid meat is simple as meat tends to dull the body. But for
mantra sadhana mind and body needs to be active with sattvic (good) thoughts.

the Dhyana first and start chanting the mantra given below)
