TARDIS fingerless mittens

This pattern is heavily adapted from Sarah Kupers pattern which can be found
here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/tardis-wristwarmers or here:
https://knittventures.wordpress.com/2011/01/18/tardiswristwarmers/
I converted her pattern to be made in the round with thumbs. I also played
around a lot with the positioning and sizing of the windows and the letters in
relation to the thumbs, to try and find the best placement that centers the design
on your hands when actually wearing them.
Abbreviations:
CO: cast on
k: knit
p: purl
k2tog: knit two together
sts: stitches
pm: place marker
sm: slip marker
m1R: make one right
m1L: make one left
MC: main color (blue)
C1: color one (white)
C2: color two (black)

- 100 yards of worsted weight yarn in blue

- 25 yards of worsted weight yarn in white
- US 3/3.25mm needles (either DPNs or round needles if using magic loop
method) (mine were actually made using US 4/3.5mm needles as those
were the smallest I own)

- Stitch holder or scrap yarn
Gauge:
5.5 sts/7 rows = 1 in stockinette stitch.
Size:
Following this pattern fits my hands, which are the following measurements:
Wrist: 7 inches
Palm: 8 inches across
Wrist to base of middle finger: 4.5 inches
You can add stitches on either side of the round/in between the words in the
chart if you want wider mittens.
If you want them longer just add a few rounds of straight knitting before you start
the thumb gusset and/or a few more rounds between the windows and the letters
in the chart
Instructions:
CO 40 sts in MC, 10 sts on each needle or divide in two if using the magic loop
method. Join in round, being careful not to twist sts.
