Findley, Daniel J., et al. Highway Engineering: Planning, Design, and Operations. Waltham,
MA: Butterworth-Heinemann is an imprint of Elsevier, 2016. Print.
This source is a nonfiction book designed to educate Civil Engineers on the
planning design and development of highway infrastructure including interchanges,
roads, and intersections. Because of this, the intended audience would be Civil Engineers
in general because they would be the ones that would actually consult the book for
necessary information. If there were any bias it would be in the solutions for the practice
problems because in a field like engineering there are multiple valid solutions to a single
problem, and the one that is picked depends on your personal preferences.
The book goes over everything a Civil Engineer could want to know about
roadways. Such topics include interchange design, traffic flow, road and bridge
structures, traffic safety, etc. These topics are supplemented with practice problems
complete with solutions and explanations.
This source would be a great help in defining specific interchange designs
including cloverleaf and partial cloverleaf interchanges. Little else in the source will be
useful in my paper because of the fact the book focuses on highway engineering in
general and does not focus on any particular topic.

"I-275/SR 32 Interchange CLE-275-10.15, PID 76289." (2008): n. pag. ENTRAN. Web.
This source is a project proposal for the topic of my research paper. The proposal
was presented to the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) which makes the
ODOT the intended audience. Because the proposal is designed to persuade the ODOT to
approve the project there is some bias especially in sections highlighting the benefits of
their proposal.
This is a project proposal so there is information on the objective of the project as
well as an overview of the project and its impact on the region. There are also several
attachments showing visuals and additional information.
This is in my personal opinion an excellent find. This source is directly related to
my topic of research and is full of information that I could use. In particular, the
arguments and overviews used in this source can be cited and used to support my thesis.
"Interstate 275/SR 32 Interchange Improvements." Clermont County TID. N.p., n.d. Web. 10
June 2016.
This is something of a project report that was written with the intention of
everyone and anyone to read. The general purpose is to inform people of the objectives of
the project. Bias could be present in the choosing of presented information and statistics.
The source is a general overview of the topic of research listing objectives and
key features.
This source is not the most useful, but it does list reasons that support the topic
that can be cited in the paper.

Proceedings of the Ninth TRB Conference on the Application of Transportation Planning
Methods Baton Route, Louisiana, April 6-10, 2003. Washington, D.C.: Transportation
Research Board, 1987. 93-97. Web. 10 June 2016.
This is a scientific report on the differences and benefits of two different types of
interchanges: the cloverleaf and the partial cloverleaf. This is intended for scientists and
engineers and the general purpose was to present findings on a particular topic. Bias if it
is found anywhere in the report would be in the topic itself and why it was chosen as the
topic, and the choice of what data to which attention should be given.
The report compares the cloverleaf and the partial cloverleaf and uses the data
gathered to evaluate which type of interchange in at least the statistical sense is a better
option.
This is another usable source because a parallel can be drawn between my topic
and this source not to mention my other sources. The evaluation can also be cited for
increased support of the thesis. The jargon present may however confuse readers who are
not accustomed to that particular jargon.

Traffic Congestion and Reliability: Trends and Advanced Strategies for Congestion
Mitigation: Executive Summary. U.S. Department of Transportation, n.d. Web. 10 June
2016.
This is a report compiled by a team in the U.S. Department of Transportation
presumably so that it can be evaluated and the findings could be sent to the various

necessary agencies. Bias can be found in how the report measures traffic congestion as
time delay when there are multiple other ways to measure congestion.
This is a report that is done yearly to provide information to transportation
agencies and the like. It includes graphs and charts to argue the best way to mitigate
traffic congestion and the root causes of traffic congestion.
This source is indirectly connected with my topic of research, but the mitigation
techniques can be cited to support the thesis. The only trouble with the source is that
some of the explanations may be a bit confusing to the average reader or unrelated
completely with the topic.
"234.5 Cloverleaf Interchanges." Engineering Policy Guide RSS. N.p., n.d. Web. 10 June 2016
This is an online guide to highway engineering. Therefore, the purpose is to
inform and the intended audience is civil engineers and more specifically highway
engineers. Because the site can be edited, bias may be found in the list of advantages and
disadvantages.
The source is part of a site that has the highway engineering building code in it.
Along with the code however is other specific information regarding cloverleaf
intersections.
This can be used to define cloverleaf and to cite information that can support the
thesis. Besides this, it seems to be largely useless so it will not be used frequently.
