Dear Friend,
Greetings to you from everyone at the church in the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ. The Lord has blessed our church abundantly. It's hard to believe that we
have been in the Torrington area for 25 years. I am very grateful He has guided our
steps over the years, and He has continually blessed our services and the people.
There is a wonderful Scripture in Philippians 4:13 that says, "I can so all
things through Christ which strengtheneth me." Every time we face a difficult
situation we know that Christ will strengthen us to accomplish His will!
Sometimes our focus is on our own particular circumstance: that is natural. But to
have a change that will last we must put our faith and trust in God's ability and
strength. In the Lord's Prayer, Jesus taught us to pray, "Thy kingdom come. Thy
will be done in earth, as it is in heaven" (Matthew 6:10). His will is always
better than our will. We need the Lord to enable us to fulfill His will. It is liberating
to put our complete dependance on God's abilities and strength rather than our
own. I have found it to be God's good pleasure to help us, even to the point of
carrying us through difficult situations when our strength is gone. When He is
leading our way, we will come out victorious, with peace in our hearts. He turns
those things that are bad for us and makes them for our benefit.
There is a perfect illustration in the Bible that shows us that there is nothing
that is too difficult for God. King Saul of the Old Testament had a son named
Jonathan. The enemy had surrounded Israel and completely out-numbered them. It
was a very dark day, for the leaders had turned from God and the people were
afraid. But Jonathan believed that there was nothing too hard for God! Jonathan
had an armor-bearer with him, and he said to him, "Come, and let us go...it may
be that the Lord will work for us: for there is no restraint to the Lord to save
by many or few" (I Samuel 14:6). He put NO limits on God here. He knew all
that the Lord needed from him was his availability. He didn't need his money (the
Lord has so much wealth He makes the richest men on earth seem like paupers in
comparison). He didn't need Jonathan's weapons or more education. All He needed
was for a person willing to step out by faith and offer himself or herself to God. He
will work in and through you: will you let Him? Many times the only thing I could
offer Him was my heart. I have told the Lord in prayer, "Lord, if you can use me,
here I am. I am available to you."

This man Jonathan knew nothing was impossible with God! His friend said
to him, "Do all that is in thine heart; behold, I am with thee according to thy
heart." Now there was 2 people who trusted completely in God's help. They did
not play it safe. They willingly cast themselves into the will of God for the sake of
their nation. No one else was stepping up to the plate because of fear. But these 2
men believed God. The enemy saw them, called them to climb up to their garrison,
but when they got there, Jonathan smote the men and the armor-bearer finished
them off. These 2 men defeated 20 enemy soldiers: 20 hindrances to going forward
to success. They overcame the 1st and then the 2nd, and so on until they were
confident the Lord would help them with it all. If you have some things holding
you back and you feel overwhelmed by all of it, start with the 1st thing. Take one
thing at a time. The Lord will be with you there, and then in the 2nd, and then in
the 3rd, and so on. You will eventually have a complete victory through Christ who
strengthens you!
What is hindering you from giving yourself wholly over to God's kingdom?
Is the 1st enemy money? God doesn't need your money: He has His own. He only
teaches us to give so we won't be selfish or covetous. Are you thinking you lack
ability? God doesn't need your ability or strength: He has more than enough to
share with us. Does lack of time keep you from serving God? He holds time in His
hands: it is called "present." What is hindering you? Is it fear of the unknown? The
Lord is so wise He knows the future and He is with us. Once Jonathan overcame
the 1st twenty excuses or reasons for not trusting God completely, the Lord took
over from there! They entered a battle that was incredibly being fought by the
enemy themselves! The enemy of our souls is more confused than you are! So we
must learn to trust the Lord no matter how things seem. Remember, greater is He
that is in you, than he that is in the world. The Lord Jesus rose from the greatest
enemy to mankind: death. He proved once and for all that the things He told us are
true, because He rose from the dead. He gives us assurance of eternal life, and
confidence in this life. What a wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord!
I invite you to our church services. We meet Sundays at 10 AM and 7 PM,
and Wednesday at 7:30 PM. Please remember that we are praying for you! Until
next month, may God bless you "more abundantly!"
Sincerely,

Rev. Daniel Bossidy
