Warehouse Management Policy and

Procedures.
1. INTRODUCTION
The Diners store works on the on following principles.

Finished goods transferred from production department to warehouse.


There are 5 items in stock such as shirts, trousers, shalwar suit, suiting and
accessories.
Goods are then distributed as plan given by SCM department.
Packaging is done as per shippers cartons for delivering the goods to overall
stores.
Rest of the goods are then stacked on racks.

Observations

Goods are kept on floor due to space constraints.


No method for stacking of goods followed.
No designated place for receiving, packaging and issuance.
No pallets available.
No safety methods followed.

2. STAFFING NEEDS

Overall 30 persons working in store, 7 are supervisors and rest 23 is


assistants.
Duties that performed by staff are scanning, packing and distribution.

Observations

No designated employees for scanning, packing and issuance.


Lacking of skilled labor.
Lack of trainings for workers.
Lack of energy drinks for workers in hot and humid environment.

3. STORAGE FACILITIES

Racks are available for goods storage.


Trolleys are available for goods movement.

Space constraints due to which storage facilities are affected.


No cross ventilation, this causes too much heat and humidity inside the store.
Ladder should be available for loading and unloading of stock from upper
racks.
Racks should be placed at center instead of being placed at the corners.

4. DOCUMENTATION
Observations

No proper documentation found.


Bin cards .stock register, monthly stock count memo not found.
Packing list not been provided to store and there is no intimation from
production department for any new lot.
No designated person for documentation.

5. REVERSE LOGISTICS
Observations

No system for reverse logistics or goods returned found.


No designated place for Goods Retuned available.
Goods returned are not handled with care.

6. RECOMMENDATIONS

Installation of CCTV cameras.

Warehouse maintenance and cleaning.

Reverse logistics Return of goods and exit strategy in the event of


downscaling or shutting down operations.

Disposal of obsolete and damaged goods.

Stock identification, stack cards, bin cards, stock Checks, stock loss reporting,
reporting of stock levels.

Ensure that weekly and monthly stock balances reports of each stock item and
the total values are prepared.

Maintain monthly stock usage report of each item kept in the store and the
overall in the usage trend in last six months.

Review and report on six monthly basis slow moving items indicating the last
movement date the unit value and total value and liaise with user
department.

Allow sufficient space for easy access to the stacks for inspecting, loading and
unloading. Stacks should be one meter from the walls and another meter
between stacks.

Sizing the goods receipt and dispatch area.

allow space for storage of cleaning materials and supplies.

Allocate areas for damaged items by consignment number.

Allow sufficient space to repackage damaged items and place it in separate


stacks.

Sufficient free space is needed to operate a warehouse effectively.

More scanners machines required for increasing the velocity of work.

6. CONCLUSION OR REMARKS

The warehouse is a key component of the supply chain in emergencies. It


buffers uncertainties and breakdowns that may occur in the supply chain.
When properly managed and appropriately stocked a warehouse provides a
consistent supply of material when it is needed.
