PROJECT PROPOSAL
I. Project Title:

A PROPOSAL FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF

A DIVISIONS LIBRARY HUB

II. Proponent:

Division of San Jose City

III.Source of Funding:

School Education Fund

IV.Venue:

Gabaldon Hall, San Jose West Central School

V. Rationale:
The Division of San Jose City Library Hub will be an online repository, a one-stop
shop of quality localized teaching, learning and professional resources created by our
educators, learners and stakeholders.
Its functions are:
A learning center that will provide quality supplementary reading materials
among school children, teachers and every potential learner: out of school
youth, cooperatives, organizations, employees, prisoners and other social
groups.
It will have a portal that will serve as a web-based catalog with a searchable
and online repository of learning materials.
A learning resource that will allow users of the system to access and
download directly digitized versions of learning materials.
A venue that San Josenians can use for free for accessing the Divisions
portal to save them computer usage fees from commercial Internet shops.
VI. Project Impact
How This Project Can Benefit San Jose City
An online learning portal for San Josenians, from San Josenians this is the vision of the
Division of San Jose City Library Hub. The portal will not be exclusively useful for the
people in the Department of Education: every potential learner out of school youth,
cooperatives, organizations, employees, prisoners and other social groups will benefit
from the portal through the numerous resources they can independently access and use
anytime and anywhere.
In the long run, investing in this online repository will prove to be cost effective not only
for the city administration and the Division but for individual users as well. Instead of
searching for a specific learning resource by traveling from school to school, it will take
only one click to find it, since the portal will also serve as a web-based catalog. Individuals
will likewise have the option to print only what they need. Moreover, providing computers
that San Josenians can use for free for accessing varied learning resources will save
them computer usage fees in commercial Internet establishments. The Hub shall likewise
provide greater access to a variety of reading materials systematically organized in bins.

VII. Methodology:
The Library Hub shall be housed and maintained at the Gabaldon Hall, San Jose West
Central School.
The Division, through its pool of subject specialists, shall allow them to respond to
resource needs of schools. The development and distribution of new resources shall also
be facilitated through the portal.
The following are the benefits at school level:
Identifies quality resources to meet actual needs and improve learning
performance through the LR Planning process.
Provides a system for sharing teacher-developed resources.
Facilitates an effective search for resources via the portal because of the
numerous metadata elements for each resource.
Allows schools with limited textbooks to locate and reproduce needed resources.
Allows for the use of multiple learning and teaching resources without necessarily
purchasing commercially developed resources.
VIII. Budgetary Requirement:
The proposed total budgetary requirements are as follows:
