A report published by Ernst & Young called Nature or nurture?
Decoding the DNA of the entrepreneur, argues that entrepreneurs
are made, not born. According to the report, There is no single
entrepreneurship gene. But there are traits and experiences that
make it more likely that an individual will choose the path of
entrepreneurship and, crucially, succeed over the long term.
According to US Small Business Association, 60-80% jobs are
created by small and medium enterprises. The major portion of the
youth in Pakistan is jobless and is unable to nd employment
opportunities. It is the need of the hour to bring entrepreneurs into
the mainstream. It is now a proven fact that entrepreneurs can be
developed by providing them the enabling environment,
ecosystem and institutional support.
The theme for this years conference is Nurturing the Future
Entrepreneurs of Pakistan.

Objectives

The main objective of the 4th Annual Entrepreneurship


Conference LCL 2015, which will be held in Islamabad, on Oct
10th, 2015 is to gather decision makers (government, political
and state agencies), innovators (universities, research and
business incubation centers) and practitioners (SMEs,
seasoned entrepreneurs) to generate discussion and exchange
on the future entrepreneurs and innovation to national and
regional competitiveness
Other objectives are:
1. To learn and to share innovative methods of exploiting the
future entrepreneurs of Pakistan in ways and means that
benet the overall population
2. To debate the entrepreneurial challenges and discuss the
business opportunities that exist in Pakistan

3. This conference can serve as a meeting point for
entrepreneurs to interact and exchange ideas. It is also an
opportunity for both the aspiring and the existing
entrepreneurs to exchange ideas and disseminate new
techniques to be used in their business models.

Highlights

First

Held in National Library Auditorium Islamabad, this


conference was the 1st Annual Entrepreneurship Conference
and 267 people attended from 39 organizations, took part. Of
these participants 213 came from industry and academia to
share their experiences of entrepreneurship and
entrepreneurship education.

Focusing on Global Entrepreneurship and Development Index


(GEDI), LCL 2012 explored creative ways in which
entrepreneurship can support development and help Pakistan
to come up from 86th position reported in GEDI 2012

In developing the concept and agenda for the conference, EDI


was supported by Knowledge Partners, Council and Ministries.
Higher Education Commission and National ICT R&D Fund were
Platinum Sponsors of the event.

The format of the event involved a mixture of keynote
addresses, open forum speeches, and extensive panel
discussions, as well as the introduction of interactive working
groups, plus plenty of scheduled time for formal and informal
networking

Uniquely, the conference continued to bring together all the


major stakeholders in the eld of the Entrepreneurship,
including policy makers, industry representatives, top
entrepreneurs, and consultants, facilitating a rounded
discussion with multiple viewpoints, and an exceptionally high
quality of debate

On Saturday, 15th of November 2014, Jinnah Convention Center


Islamabad witnessed history in the making. A mammoth audience
from all across Pakistan, came together and pledged to rebuild the
depressed country through the strength of entrepreneurship.

It was the 3rd annual entrepreneurship conference, LCL: Learn.


Create. Lead 2014 organized by Entrepreneurship Development
Institute (EDI). 1600+ participants became part, of what has been
declared as the largest gathering of entrepreneurs, national leaders
and academia in Pakistan.
This conference is deemed to be the most influential platform to
develop the entrepreneurial culture in Pakistan. With a tradition of
having a crystal clear and comprehensible annual concept, the
theme for this year's conference was aptly titled, Rebuild Pakistan
Through Entrepreneurship.
