To
The Program Director,
This communication is as regards Dr. Diptarka Bhattacharyyas application to your
institute.
I have been closely associated with Dr. Diptarka Bhattacharyya over the last three
years (May 2012-May 2015) and have been his supervising consultant during this
time.
Dr. Bhattacharyya impressed me early on in his residency days by his compassion
and caring approach towards people in general , including patients, relatives and
ward assistants, a quality which is lost far too often in todays busy schedules. Over
the course of these three years he has become a well-loved person in the
department and the institute in general.
In his senior year , he started impressing me with his keen clinical acumen , and the
thoroughness with which he examined his patients . He would read up about the
interesting cases and ask me for clarifications regarding pertinent doubts, a trait
which I encouraged in him . He would also meticulously pass on anything new he
picked up from our discussions to his batchmates and juniors so that everyone could
benefit. He was able to take immediate decisions during emergencies and handled
them speedily.
He has volunteered multiple times for taking lectures for undergraduate MBBS
students ,nursing students and his juniors at this institute among whom he is held in
high regard. He is an engaging and articulate speaker and knows the art of
simplifying a topic to make it understandable.
In the Operation Theatre he would always be on time and well-informed and
prepared with the cases and relevant theory. He would keenly observe any surgeries
being performed and quickly picked up the techniques of even complex cases ,
eventually having assisted in multiple major head and neck oncosurgical resection
and reconstruction cases and laryngotracheal reconstruction procedures.
He would proactively participate in ongoing research projects in the department and
handled our Cochlear implant programme, our Advanced Endonasal
Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery Programme & our Otolaryngologic
Endocrinology patients as the resident in charge in his senior year. He presented
multiple papers and posters in various state and national level workshops and
conferences and did so admirably.
Thanking you,
