Production based on the production orders
Planning and manufacturing depends on production orders.
Products changed frequently.
Production is carried out on different production lines (scattered- discrete).
Product costing and settlement is done through production orders.
Planned orders are stock type later converted into production orders.
Production orders are required.
Production version and product cost collector are not mandatory.
Materials will be issued always with reference to production orders.
Master Data includes Routings and BOMs.
PROCESS:
I have clarified differences between the Discrete and Repetetitive Manufacturing for the parametsrs of Product
Nature, Manufacturing Process, Confirmation & Costing
1. Product Nature
Discrete
High variety of parts, that calls for frequent part changes over work centers and these parts form assemblies.
Repetitive Manufacturing
Products do not change for a long period.
2.Manufacturing Process
Discrete
Typically manufactured in individually defined lots.
Manufacturing path for Products varies from one product to other, and may often be complex.
Parts may have to wait or stored until succeeding work center is free.
Repetitive Manufacturing
Instead of individual lots, period based planning.
Planned orders are sufficient to carry out shop floor activity.
Components are often staged at the production line without reference to a particular order.
3. Confirmation
Discrete
Order / Operation wise
Repetitive Manufacturing
Simplified Confirmation and use of back flush
4. Costing:
Discrete
Production Order based
Repetitive Manufacturing
Period based costing using cost collector
Hi there:
After finished running mrp via md02,then I went to transaction md04 to
view stock/requirement list, and I had seen system had generated
planned order,so I clicked magnify icon, then I am able to see two
button, one is transfer planned order to process order and the another
one is to transfer planned order to production order, normally I chose the
latter one,my question is that what's the difference between them, what's
the process/procedure of two orders?
Production orders are used in normal production industries like
automobile etc. Process orders are used in process industries like
Food , Chemical and Pharma industries.
Difference between PP and PP - PI other than SAP side fuction wise in normal PP
production process like assembly if you have manufactured a cycle after
producing the final product you can dis assemble the cycle and go back to the
original components. Where as in PP-PI process inductries once you have
produced the fianl product you can not go back to original components like you
produced a icecream you can not go back to the components used to produce
this icecream. I hope now the difference between PP and PP-PI is clear.
