AP Calculus AB
Classroom Syllabus and Procedures
Course Overview: Calculus AB is primarily concerned with developing the students understanding of the concepts of
calculus and providing experience with its methods and applications. The courses emphasize a multi-representational
approach to calculus, with concepts, results, and problems being expressed graphically, numerically, analytically, and verbally.
The connections among these representations also are important. (Collegeboard, Course Description Calculus AB) The
important part of this class is learning how to THINK. This is not a class where you memorize a procedure then follow it. You
will see problems you may not be familiar with and you will need the skills you have acquired to solve them. However dont be
intimidated I will be there to support you during your entire journey through calculus.
School Expectations: Our class will follow all the policies set forth in the student handbook. This includes, but is not limited
to the following:
Absences: Credit will not be awarded if you have more than 4 unverified absences.
Infinite Campus: Grades will be posted weekly to Infinite Campus
Passes: You must have your planner and ID to leave the class. Bathroom passes are a privilege, not a right. If they
are abused they will be taken away.
No food or non-water drinks are allowed
All electronics must be turned off and put away prior to class, unless needed for a lesson as directed by me.
Classroom Procedures: This is an advanced math class in which we cover an entire college course over the year. In order
for this class to run smoothly we must work together and follow all classroom procedures.
Be prepared come to class with all required materials and homework
Be on time- in your seat and ready to work when the bell rings
Be respectful to everyone and everything in the class. This includes use of appropriate language and wearing
appropriate attire.
Be responsible ask questions and try your hardest
Be honest cheating will not be tolerated and will result in a failing grade.
Be accountable follow all the school and classroom rules and understand the consequences.
Be positive develop an attitude that promotes learning in our classroom.

2nd: Lunch detention: Parent Contact
3rd: Lunch detention: Parent Contact
4th: Referral to SRO: Parent Conference
Required Materials:
$5.00 lab fee
Textbook
Binder and composition or spiral notebook (prefer graph paper) for notes and homework journal
Graph paper
Writing utensil (tests and quizzes must be done in pencil)
