Emerging Technology Project:

As a school we are currently working on action plans to improve our math and reading AIMSweb scores.
AIMSweb is used as a universal screener for all students and for curriculum-based measurements as a
method for monitoring student progress in both literacy and numeracy. I decided to use this project to
help our schools math action plan.
Two Web Tools used and why:
Our math team created a course in Edmodo,( www.edmodo.com) as a place for students to go to view
help videos from a variety of internet sites. The one that we used the most is Khan Academy
(www.khanacademy.org) I have and will continue to add video links from Khan Academy to the course.
I will also have the students use Wordle (www.wordle.com) to create math vocabulary webs. Students
will post their Wordles to Edmodo for share other students.
The student goals:
a. Students will use the Edmodo course as a resource in their math classes.
b. Students will create at least 5 Wordles with math vocabulary words.

Role of technology stated:
Students would use the Edmodo course as additional help in their math classes, from Algebra to PreCalculus. The videos are mostly from Khan Academy. Each video is added as a note in Edmodo. Included
in the note which math courses and assignments that the video addresses. Edmodo has updated their
site to show the students most recent activity. Students can also post videos and other resources that
they find to the Edmodo course.
Students will create Wordles for math vocabulary words that they struggle with. Students would define
the vocabulary word in their own words then create the Wordle. Once the students have created their
Wordles, they will post them to the Edmodo course to share with other students. Here is an example of
a Wordle that I created with math terms.
