EDCI 718 Learning Technologies

Description of Course
EDCI 718 Learning Technologies explores the possibilities of using technology to
improve learning for the student and teacher. Students gain knowledge about some
of the many different tools that can be used in the classroom. The course also
offers students help in building their own professional learning network using many
social media tools. The course also covers ethical use of technology in learning.
Professional Review
This is one of the first classes I took when I started my masters. It gave me an
introduction to the International Society of Technology in Education (ISTE) standards
for teachers and students. In working with the standards I discovered a wonderful
resource through ISTE and the wish to implement the standards in my current
school. Also through this class, I had the chance to explore the overabundance
resources available for using technology in the classroom and the knowledge on
how to harness all the material into bit size pieces. This class gave students like
me the chance to get our feet wet with technology by slowing learning about using
technology in my classroom.
