Behavior Contingency Plan

Undesirable Behavior Targeted:
Off task behavior including the following:
Moving around the room without permission/reason
Using cellphone
Discussing topics unrelated to activity
Misusing materials
Sleeping
Not listening to/following directions
Desirable (expected) Behavior Targeted:
Students will exhibit on task behavior by doing the following:
Actively listening (listening & not talking when others speak, eyes on speaker)
Asking questions about assignments/activities
Using materials for their intended purpose
Staying in assigned seat/group
Discussing only items related to activity
Types of positive reinforcements - Reinforced when & how?
Immediate & delayed R+ should be related to the final activity being earned.
1. Immediate R+: Students will be given a piece of colored construction paper every time the teacher notices they
are performing on task behavior.
2. Ongoing R+ They pieces of construction paper are color coded to fit on a poster with an outline of a rocket.
Students will have an opportunity at the end of each class to glue their piece of paper on the designated section
of the rocket. When the class has filled an area of the rocket completely, they have earned that piece of the
actual rocket they will launch.
3. Overall R+: When they have earned all the pieces to the rocket, they have earned a day to build and launch the
rocket as a class.
4. I will administer Immediate R+, the construction paper pieces, by walking around the room during lab time and
placing them on tables of students who have demonstrated on task behavior. Ongoing R+ will be added to the
poster every day after the class period is over as students are on their way out the door.
Interactive Learning Activity
Once students have used their pieces of construction paper to fill in the color coded rocket outline and earned all the
pieces to the rocket, they will have won the opportunity to spend a class day building and launching a rocket.
Students will be practicing their knowledge of force, speed, acceleration, and distance by timing, measuring, and
recording the motion and distance of their rocket. TEKS: C.4.C.
Teach the Desired Behaviors:
Students will learn what on task behavior looks like by first watching a video made by other teachers, in which they
model both off task and on task behavior.
Teach the Plan:
I will teach this plan by having students model the behavior after viewing the instructional video and then practicing
this behavior daily in order to earn their pieces of construction paper.
Provide options: To implement this across class periods, each period will have their own rocket poster outline that
they have to complete with their individual pieces of construction paper. Students can compare and monitor other
periods progress on the posters.
Necessary Items
Construction paper of various colors
Poster with rocket outline
Rocket pieces
Glue
Timer
Tape measure
