HANApassbya"blankface"momentwhenIaskthem:whichkindofAnalyticsenvironmentyouhavetodayandwhich
kindofAnalyticsenvironmentdoyouenvisiononceyouhaveyourS/4implementedandfullyfunctional?Usuallythe
answer goes somehow like this: once we have S/4 HANA, our understanding is that we can have full Analytics
capabilities right from the source once we have S/4 Analytics and applications, CDS views, Fiori, SAP
BusinessObjectsCloud,LumiraandDesignStudio.Weareready.

Well,itisnotabadanswer.ThepossibilitiestohaveAnalyticscapabilitiesclosertothesource,inrealtimeandwitha
beautifulinterfacehaveneverbeensogood:
S/4 Analytics works similar (I said similar, not equal) to old timer "Business Content" for SAP NetWeaver BW
(SAPBW).Itbringsdatamodel(viaCDSviews)andthepossibilitytoconsumethoseviewsviaanAnalyticaltool,
such as SAP BusinessObjects Suite (including Lumira and Design Studio), besides, it also delivers several
prettyniceAnalyticsapplicationswhichareFioribasedandletyougofrominsighttoactioninasingletool!
OnceyougetahandonCDSviewsyoubuildadditionalmodelsleveragingtheonesalreadydeliveredbySAP
andprovideyourcompanywithoperationalanalyticscapabilities,nicereportstolookintothepast(weare
talkinglineitemsanalysisinrealtime)andevensomepredictivepossibilities.
Yeswecangocloudaswell.WithSAPBusinessObjectsCloud(BOC,currentnameofthepreviouslyknowas
SAPCloudforAnalytics)youcanhaveafullcloudbasedsolutioncompletewithBusinessIntelligence,Planning,
Predictive(stillnotfullyreleased)andGovernance,RiskandControl(stillnotreleased).Allthis,connectedin
realtimewithyourS/4HANAprovidingtherightinformation,attherighttimetotherightpeoplewiththeright
flavor(mobile,desktop,younameit).
Asaplus,youcanevenusetheniceSAPDigitalBoardroomontopofyourBOCsoyoucandeliverandlead
yourBoardMeetingsasneverbefore.ItisfullybasedonhowSAPrunsitsownBoardMeetings,soitisbasedon
realtimedata,allowingexploring,deepdivingandevensimulatinghowdecisionswouldimpactbusiness
outcome.

Theanswerissimple.Mostofmycustomersandprospectsareonbusinessforawhilenow.Someofthemhavereally
greatAnalyticssolutions(Imeansolutions,notonlytools),theyhavedevelopedeitheralone,withSAPorwithaSAP
partnersolutionsthatarealignedandsupportbusinessobjectives,thatprovidesinsightonwhat'sgoingonontheir
company,whichallowsthemtosimulate,plan,forecastandtrackresults.Insomecases,thosesolutionshavespecial
characteristics:
Somesolutionsarenotabletocoopwithrealtimedata,onceafewsourcesaresimplynotavailableinrealtime
likesomedistributedPOS(PointofSales)systems
Afewsolutionsrequireddatacleansingandharmonizationbeforeyoucanactuallyusethatdatalikesome
marketingresearchsocommononmanufacturingandconsumerproductsindustry
