Collecting data

The information in the report include 2 types: Primary data and secondary data
Primary data: is information that you collect specifically for the purpose of your
research project through two main types include interview and questionnaire. According to
primary datas theory, the information we get at Co.op Mart about demands buying, quality of
products and using company services of customers and satisfaction of customers. The
progress of primary data needs a lot of time and effort. (For example: We will do a survey
with 50 customers at Co.op Mart.)
Secondary data: is data collected by someone other than the user. Common sources
of secondary data for social science include censuses, organizational records
and data collected through qualitative methodologies or qualitative research.

1.2 - Present the survey methodology and sampling frame used in the chosen organization
Sampling Frame
Co.op Mart is a modern retail business with a total of 35 stores all around Vietnam.
Therefore, the research will use random sampling to rate the needs and wants of customers
about Co.op Mart Vietnam. Co.op Mart Truong Chinh Street, Tan Phu District, in HCMC is
selected randomly from all Co.op Mart in Vietnam.
A random sampling is a sample selected in such a way that every item in the population
has an equal chance of being included. Therefore, every customer has equal chances to be
chosen when they go to Co.op Mart. The research choose 50 customers at random being in
Co.op Mart to deputize for all the customers of Co.op Mart Vietnam.
Co.opMart should use a sample rather than an entire population in gathering
information for a number of reasons as follows:
A sample is less time - consuming to survey than a population. Exceptions to using a
sample occur when a company is conducting quality assurance processes and would
need to certify all professionals of a certain designation. For example, if a company

requires that all employees are certified in safety practices, then the entire population is
surveyed to make certain that employees are up to date. Other instances occur when
government offices conduct a census on an entire population. However, in most cases,
an organization can only survey a carefully-selected sample.
Testing a sample is cheaper than testing a population.
Data from a sample is easier to analyze statistically than a population.
The number of consumers who shopping at Co.op Mart increase day by day. To survey
all customers of Co.op Mart is so difficult, thus I will choose Truong Chinh Street, Tan Phu
district. This way is easier to collect information from customers. Because its surrounded by
a lot of buildings and departments, furthermore the foreigner a so crowed in this place. This is
a great advantage for the company.
Here are some advantage and disadvantage of sampling methods
