College and Career Awareness offers exploration and preparation in college and career pathways
focusing on jobs that are high skill and high demand, as well as satisfying and financially rewarding.
The course is designed to help students identify their interests, abilities, and skills so that
students are able to begin to make college and career goals for the future. College and Career
Awareness is designed to acquaint students with the Utah labor market and the employment
opportunities for which they can prepare by defining a College and Career Ready Plan.
Through application-based lessons, College and Career Awareness allow students to utilize
technology, develop foundational skills, and explore careers.
Content: Each CCA section is uniquely designed to provide students with hands-on experiences geared toward

Discipline
In order to create a safe learning environment, students are required to follow classroom etiquette and
procedures. As needed, the teacher will initiate corrective measures to ensure safety and respect. Please note
that steps listed in disciplinary procedure are not intended to be sequential. At the teachers discretion, a step(s)
may be bypassed and escalated to the level deemed appropriate.
Safe School Policies will be strictly enforced.
Minor Infraction: verbal warning
Reoccurring or Major Infraction: Parents will be notified and as deemed appropriate, the student will meet
with the Team and/or the student will be removed from the class and placed in another CTE classroom and
work independently on their assigned task.

Students Responsibilities
Treat self and others (Instructor, substitute teacher, and peers) with respect and honor the right of the teacher to
teach and students right to learn.
Be in assigned seat when the bell rings.
Come to class prepared.
Keep the classroom and work areas clean.
Follow all classroom and work area safety rules including equipment and facilities.
Make-up any missed assignments.
Effort
A students Effort grade is based on attendance and behavior such as:
participation, honesty, cooperation, respect, etc. When infractions occur, the
student(s) will complete an effort citation slip. (see Discipline below). Effort
grades will be as follows:
A = no citations (each student begins with an A)
B = 1-2 citations
C = 3-4 citations (parent notification)
U = 5 + citations (parent teacher conference and/or team teachers conference with student)
Effort grades listed are based on minor infractions. More serious infraction may warrant changing the effort
grade from an A to U bypassing the next sequential grade(s). Students may improve their effort grade
through improved behavior and approved service activities.

Grades will be based on completion of assignments and classroom participation. Grades will be calculated from
a percentage of the total points.
A = 93
A- = 90

B+ = 87

I = 69 and below
Make-up Assignments
Absent students will have three days to make-up any missed assignments. It is the students responsibility to
obtain any missed work. Students going on vacation or extended leave may obtain an Educational Leave
form from the front office.
