II. SCHOOL PROFILE /DATA

Identifying Information
Almanza Elem. School TS Cruz Annex, Elementary
School with the school ID 136783 is located at ilang-ilang St. TS Cruz
Subdivision, Almanza II, Las Pias City. It is in the 3 rddistrict of Las
Pias- Division of City Schools. The institution is in the heart of Las
Pias South more specifically in Barangay Almanza II, Las Pinas City,
Metro Manila.

A. Geography
The school is along the road and a few blocks to the
highway (Daang-Hari). It is 7 kilometers away from Poblacion through
jeep and tricycle via Alabang Zapote road, 10.8 via Tropical Avenue and
Alabang- Zapote road. An estimated of 1.3 kilometers away from Public
Elementary School through tricycle and in Public Utility vehicle (PUV). An
estimated of 50meters away from Private Elementary (St. Isidore
Academy) by hike, 50 meters from public secondary school (TS Cruz
High School) by hike, 1.2 kilo meters away from private High School
(San Beda College Alabang) via PUV or tricycle, 7.6 kilometers via
Alabang- Zapote road from the district office and 7 kilo meters away from
oblation through PUV and tricycle via Alabang Zapote road, 10.8 via
Tropical Avenue and Alabang- Zapote road.

There is no incidence of heinous crimes for the last three


years due to cooperation and greater understanding between residents
and through the intervention of the Barangay officials. There are pities
crimes happened and ended up resolved. Fortunately, the school is free
from crimes or human-induced hazards maybe because the school is

adjacent from the barangay. It can easily be rescued by the security in


case there were untoward incidents.

Our security-utilities are also competent they do their tasks


religiously. During strong typhoon some parts of the barangay are
affected. Flooding is often experienced in the locality. As a result, the
school being one of the public institutions considered as the last
recourse of the evacuation centres in the locality.

The data shows that the number of classrooms is inadequate to


the number of pupils catered in in the school. As an intervention we hold
5 make-shift classes. It is explicit that the number of chairs is more than
enough for the pupils.

Recently

through

the

Special

Education

Fund,

the

City

Government constructed a 4 storey building with 12 classrooms to


address the problem of the room shortage in this institution to be used in
SY 2016-2017.

B.2 Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (Wash Facilities)

B.2.1 Water Supply Source


The water supply of the school is supplied by MAYNILAD. It is
available anytime at day time and even night time. Water is used for
drinking, washing and hand washing.

B.2.2 Hand Washing


There were 10 functional faucets in the hand washing area of the
school, the school and other NGOS provided soap in the hand washing
area.

There were 5 Functional toilets in the school, 1 toilet in the first


floor; 2 toilets in the second floor and 3 toilets in the third floor. The ratio
of toilet to male pupils is 1 is to 858 and for the female is 1 is to 548. It
shows that the comfort must be improved.

is not sufficient enough to cater the number of recipients handled by the

It is implied that there were no available text books for grade -1 only
the rest of the grades were proportionate to the number of pupils in the
school except for MAPEH in Grade II, IV, V and VI.
B.4 Library
The school has a small library that caters small number of pupils.
It has about 500 books, one table and 7 chairs. The very limited space
gives a reflection of a library for the children to visibly know what a library
is.

There is an ICT room for the pupils with interactive white board
and projectors. Reading corners are also visible in every floor. The
Science room has a variety of tools and paraphernalia for the pupils to
use during science classes.

B.6 Availability of Electrical Supply


The school is generated by MERALCO through the National
Power Corporation NPC, which Luzon Area gets its supply of Electricity.

B. 7 Internet connectivity
There were internet provided in the area such as PLDT,
SMART,GLOBE Telecom, SUN, SIGNAL, WI TRIBE and so others. The
school is provided by PLDT DSL.
There are also internet caf/shops within 500 meters in our area.
Some places in our nearby establishments have enabled wife with
secured WPA because we are surrounded with variety store that made
an advantage of the huge crowd of children.

Competencies of Teachers.

The school conducted school based trainings in all grade level.


They regularly have PLC to improve their crafts and to develop
camaraderie among them to better serve the pupils. The school have
mechanisms for sustained school-based training. The basis for the
training are: the proficiency tests, daily observations and NAT results of
the pupils. It is included in the in-service trainings and LAC sessions.
The teachers also enrolled in POST graduate studies for
professional growth. The school trainings enable the teachers to be
equipped with knowledge and give them the opportunity to upgrade
their craft aligned with the 21 st century curriculum as demanded by the

The teachers need the competencies and skills needed in


the 21st century curriculum. The record shows that It is advisable that
the teachers be given time and opportunity to attend seminars that will
equip them and be proficient.
C.2.5 Reasons for Lack of Training
The reasons for lack of training is that (1)Lack of time and
resources to attend the seminar, (2) Not all teachers are given equal
opportunity to attend, (3) No encouragement by the School Head to
attend, (4) Training is considered a perk not a necessity, (5) Offered
during teachers free time such as Saturday and Sunday, (6) Isnt
mandatory.

D. 1.2 Intervention
The school has the local feeding project for 50 pupils from nourishing
thru canteen fund and 300 pupils are the recipient of School based
Feeding Program funded by Dep.-Ed, An intervention project of AES
TS CRUZ ANNEX which is GREENING TS CRUZ to sustain the feeding
program and to reflect it from their own backyard and to promote love for
urban gardening.

The record shows that there 4.94% got cough, 5.15% got colds,
1.37% got sour eyes and .68% got chicken fox. We noticed that most of
the cases were brought by viral infections.

D. 2.2 Intervention Program:


The school through the Science teachers conducted regular
health inspections and they integrate it in their lessons the proper
hygiene at home and in the school. Primary grades were demonstrated
on the proper hand washing and brushing their teeth. The clinic teachers
with the cooperation of science teachers and other stakeholders also
conducted regular monthly clean-up drives in the vicinity of the school.

Children with 4 years old were already catered by the barangay day
care program and children beyond 14 years old were also admitted to
the school ALS program. Some reasons mostly of not attending schools

the Enrolment for SY 2013-2014. Kinder boys 154 and girls 142 ;
grade I- 276boys and 269girls; Grade II- 281 boys and 278 girls; Grade
III 250 boys and 258 girls; Grade IV 254 boys and 231 girls; Grade V
216 boys and 244 girls; Grade VI- 239 boys and 216 girls with the total
of 1,670 boys and 1,638 girls (3,308);
In 2014-2015 the enrolment for kinder 190 boys and 163 girls;
Grade I- 301 boys and 252 girls; grade II- 266 boys and 262 girls; Grade
III- 265 boys and 277 girls; Grade IV- 281 boys and 246 girls; Grade V251 boys and 236 girls; grade VI- 211 boys and 236 girls with the total of
1,750 boys and 1,672 girls (3,422)
In 2015-2016 enrolment are: Kinder 283 boys and 240 girls;
Grade I- 181 boys and 149 girls; Grade II- 275 boys and 267 girls ;

Inclusion of education will only be introduced next school year,


2016-2017 but our school already caters pupils with disability and still
others maybe not classified as such because we are not doctors and the
parents failed to see a psychiatrists. The following are the pupils with
disability in our school. Kinder (1) visually impaired, (3) autism and 2
speech defective. In Grade I-(2) are visually impaired, (1) autism and (1)
speech defective. In Grade II -these were (3) have visually impaired and
(1) autistic. In Grade III- there were (12) visually impaired (3) speech
defective and (2) have cerebral palsy. In Grade IV-(6) are visually
impaired (1) hearing impaired and (2) have speech defect. In Grade V
there were only (2) visually impaired and (1) cerebral palsy. In Grade VI(1) has cerebral palsy. With the total of (26) have visually impaired (1)

4.4 Project/Interventions Implemented for children at risk of
dropping out.

The school through the dissemination of the guidance office have


complemented interventions to minimize drop-outs and leavers. The
following were the programs of the school are: 1) intensified house
visitation 2) house mapping/parent orientations 3) Teachers continues
improvement through PLC (professional Learning Community) 20152016, the drop -outs lessened because of interventions that conducted
by the school. The school foster program that access school to the
community. The BRIDGING SCHOOL TO COMMUNITY promotes the
member of the community partake in the programs and projects of the

and 172 independent. For Grade III (pre-test) 379 falls in frustration, 92
in instructional and 18 independent. In Post- test 235 were in frustration,
160 instructional and 87 independent. For Grade IV (Pre-Test) 131 were

Post-test it becomes 93 frustrations, 230 instructional and 194
independent. For Grade V (Pre-test) 272 were in frustration level, 150
instructional levels, 53 were independent level. In Post-test 167 were in
frustration level, 162 were in instructional and 148 in independent level.
For Grade VI, the result of the Phil-IRI shows that in Pre-test; 234 pupils
were in frustrations, 137 were in instructional and 91independent. In the
Post test the result is 121 were in the frustrations level, 183 instructional
level and 156 were independent. The Grand total result of English PhilIRI Pre-test was 1236 Frustration level, 705 were instructional level, and
503 were in independent level. After five months the post result shows
that it has a slight difference: 792 are in frustration, 899 are instructional
and 757 are in independent level.

level, 196 instructional levels, 115 were independent level. In Post-test
92 were in frustration level, 252 were in instructional and 133 in
independent level. For Grade VI, the result of the Phil-IRI shows that in
Pre-test; 141 pupils were in frustrations, 233 were in instructional and
145 independent. In the Post test the result is 102 were in the
frustrations level, 180 instructional level and 178 were independent. The
Grand total result of Filipino Phil-IRI Pre-test was 883 Frustration level,
1021 were instructional level, and 592 were in independent level. After
five months the post result shows that it has a slight difference: 677 are
in frustration, 990 are instructional and 779 are in independent level.
7.3 Projects/Interventions
The result of the Philippine Reading inventory tells that the pupils
need reinforcement in terms of literacy. The projects that the school had
implemented are:
Reading Intervention (vis- a-vis) reading intervention for
non- readers where non-readers assigned to each
teachers to make them readers. It is regularly done five
times a week.
