Backgrounds: The incidence of hypertension in both developed and developing
countries reach 10-20%. Former research shows that hypertension occurrences reach 25.8% in Indonesia. Uncontrolled hypertension can cause degenerative diseases such as heart disease, chronic kidney disease and vascular disease. Based on the cases, the adequate knowledge about hypertension management and patient compliance in undergoing therapy program is much needed. This research was aimed to investigate the correlation between the degrees of hypertension management knowledge and the drug complience level. Methods: This research is an observational-analytic study with cross-sectional. The numbers of respondents are 51 outpatients in Poliklinik Jantung RSUP Nusa Tenggara Barat. The data were retrieved using interview and questionnaire. Statistical analysis used was bivariate analysis with Spearman correlation test. Results: The result of Spearman bivariate analysis shows that there was a significant and strong correlation between the knowledge of hypertension management and the level of drug complience (r = 0.635, p = 0.001 (p <0.05)). Conclusions: The knowledge of hypertension management has positive correlation with the level of drug complience. The higher the knowledge on hypertension therapy, the higher the compliance in taking antihypertensive drugs. Keywords: Hypertension management, knowledge, drug compliance
