SUMMARY:
ABB has notified Saudi Aramco that its Triguard SC300E-MDO32BNS 32 Channels
Digital Output Module (DO), 24 Vdc may fail due to internal or external applied short
circuit and consequently cause the module printed circuit board to overheat and ignite.
The fix will be conducted by ABB as outlined in the attached Advisory Notice and will
be based on the following steps:
1. Perform a survey of the field power and load of each DO module to ensure
proper fuse selection in order to provide the necessary protection.
2. Record the maximum current requirements for each module and identify the
appropriate upgrade alternative.
3. Replace the DO modules online using hot repair procedure.
ABB will send engineers to survey the installed systems to document the systems
loading and ensure proper fuse protection and subsequently replace the DO modules.
P&CSD will coordinate with ABB and the plants, DO modules survey within the next 2
weeks and modules replacements upon arrival of the new DO modules within the next
30 days.
