An Address To The Klans Man Gang Of Spanish Town, St. Catherine,

Jamaica

1
The Klans Man Gang over the years has been operating in a manner that is
deeply disappointing and saddening to the residents of Spanish Town and the
wider ST. Catherine. Deeply disappointing and saddening because the gang
and its members have been operating like individuals who have recently lost
their right arms from shoulders down and still have not learnt to use their left
hands, everything they touch and everywhere they go, things fall apart,
broken and destroyed.
Why is this so? The New Left Hand Behaviour on the part of the Klans Man
Gang and its members, stems from the fact that they no longer understand
what is a gang and how it is different from a set of pig thieves, rapists or
pickpockets. If a member of the Man Gang was placed to stand next to a pig
thief, a rapist and a pickpocket, no one could say from looking at the style of
dress and conduct who is who; all would be painted with the same brush.
It is forgotten that what differentiates between a gang and a set of common
thieves and or rapists, is its relationship with the community and the wider
society. Gangs come about, not because two or three seventeen year olds
get their hands on two guns. No! Gangs come about as an organized
response to the harsh conditions in the communities of the poor, high levels
of unemployment, marginalization and oppression. It is an organized attempt
to correct social imbalances and injustice. Here one remembers that the first
gangster and Don known in history is the Biblical Barabbas and the most
famous gangster was Robin Hood, none of the two could be mistaken to be
pig thieves, rapists or pickpockets.

Bulbie of the Klans Man died, as a leader did he leave behind an organization
which could withstand the test of time without splintering into bits and
pieces? He died leaving behind leaving millions of dollars in assets and
monies; did he leave behind provisions to take care of the gang members
who were/are in prisons and their children? Did he leave behind provisions
for the sick, or for the parents of gang members who got sick or their
children and or baby mothers who get sick? How many jobs or houses for the
poor in Spanish Town did he create or made? How many thousands of dollars
did he leave behind as scholarship for the bright children of gang members
or those who live in the communities which he controlled? How much money
did he leave behind as pension for those gang members who are up in age
and can no longer take active part in gang activities? Was Bulbie a Don, the
leader of a gang or a common thief and criminal who was no better than a
pig thief, rapist or pick pocket? Only members of the Klans Man Gang, their
children and families can answer these questions.

2
An important duty of a gang leader or Don and the senior members of a
gang, is to ensure that a given percent of the monies which they earn from
illegal activities goes into setting up legal businesses which creates
employment and provides monies for gang members in need. How can a
youth claim to be a gang member , if his mother or baby mother cannot find
money to buy toilet paper or bath soap for him when he is in jail and his
baby mother cannot find money to send his children to school when he is in
prison or in jail? How can he claim to be a gang member if the Don cannot
find a suitable job for his baby mother or his sister? The leadership of the
Klans Man Gang needs to be able to show the gang members, the taxis, the
mini buses, the market stalls he rents and the wholesales owned to create
employment and insurance money to meet the needs of the urgent and
pressing needs of gang members and their families. The leadership of the
Klans Man Gang needs to show what is in place to take care of gang
members who become old. If one drives to the country to pick up weed for
sale, there is no reason why one could not also pick up some yams and
bananas for sale in the market. It must be able to show the pig farms owned
by the gang and the number of people they employ. It must be able to show
the chicken farms owned by the gang and say how many chicken it delivers
per month to Jamaica Broilers and the callalo farms it owns and the quantity
of callallo it delivers to Grace Kennedy per month. These are important

questions which must be dealt with by the Klans Man Gang, if not for the
simple reason, that from the 100 Man Police Station in Portmore to the
Linstead police station, there are members of the Klans Man Gang in lock up,
who cannot afford to take up bail, or even afford to pay for a lawyer to
represent them.

If the Klans Man Gang impose taxes on taxi operators, on Mr Ramtalli , Mrs.
Brown and Mr Chin, the money cannot be for the boasting on the taxi
operator, Mr. Ramtalli or Mr. Chin, but rather to be invested in legal
businesses to meet the present and future needs of the gang members and
their families and the community as a whole. One crack dealer in Kingston,
went on American television, showing how crack is made from cocaine and
boasting that he has 100 men under arms to protect his turf. The question
that should be asked, is if he has 100 men under arms, how many persons
has he employed in legal businesses to take care of the needs of the
community and the insurance needs of his soldiers and their families .These
are the very same questions which face the leadership of the Klans Man
Gang. Is the Mission of the Klans Man Gang to wage war or to make money
while meeting the needs of the community?
3
A youth who does not want to work, calls down the police, war, death, shame
and embarrassment on the community and on the gang. The youth who
boasts about the number of duppies which he has made as a rule cannot
truthfully show three baby mothers who he has found jobs for or created
employment for nor can he show the school shoes which he had bought for
the children in the community to attend school. Even a mad man can murder
people. If there is within the ranks of the Klans Man Gang a member who
loves duppies or who loves making them, arrangements should be made with
the Shower Posse to ensure that the duppy loving member gets employment
at the May Pen Cemetery or in a funeral parlor with the provision of room
and bed on the compound so that he has no reason for going far from the
duppies and leave the road to those who love life and live people.
If a thug comes from the United States, where it was his job to ensure that
the owners of prisons make a profit on their investment, he must be made to
hold his corner. If a thug comes from the United States, where he was
holding up and robbing people for $25.00 and killing people for $50.00, he
should be sent back to the United States, give him an American flag and tell

him to walk. Are the Klans Man Gang and its members owners of dumps or
collectors of garbage?

4
If the police goes in search for a gangster, a member of the Klans Man Gang,
it is the community which pays for it. It is the doors to the homes of
community members which are kicked down by the police. It is the sons of
residents of the community who are kicked and boxed by the police and its
their daughters who get disrespected. A gangster can shake the community
and go to Manchester or Montego Bay to cool out, the residents have to stay
and deal with the police.
A gangster cannot go collecting taxes and the community gets nothing from
it. The Klans Man Gang is not protecting the community. Where there are no
gangs, there are ,no drive by shootings. Where there are no gangs, there are
nor retaliatory wars. Where there are no gangs, there are no turf wars. If any
member of the Klans Man Gang feels good about himself and the way he
operates, all the baby mothers, grand parents and children from the
communities in Spanish Town and Portmore, should tie him to a breadfruit
tree and use cow whips to flog him. They are the people protecting him and
their welfare and interests should be the first thing on his mind. The Klans
Man Gang needs to create legal jobs and employment in and around Spanish
Town.
End,
Basil Fletcher
