Appreciation of the service of teachers involved in Technology Stream
The students of Technology Stream sat for the advanced level examination in
August 2015 and the result indicate that the students have been able to secure a
higher pass rate comparing to the other stream though with the less number of
higher grades (A and B passes). The lesson leant from the result is that the teachers
have been fully involved and committed toward their responsibilities.
The total number of students sat for the Technology Stream 12583

The teachers and students have demonstrated this result with very less physical
and human resources which doesnt satisfy the minimum requirement of the
teachers and students for them to conduct the theory and practical lessons
effectively and successfully. For an example none of the model schools provided
with surveying and leveling instruments which is a core component for the written
and practical examination. Even the laboratories/Workshops are not opened or not
functioning properly in some schools.
The required number of qualified teachers for Engineering Technology is also not
provided. Most of the teachers who teach Engineering Technology in some schools
have been trained to teach for ordinary level classes.
The teachers who taught subjects in Technology Stream under above circumstances
have completed their mission in a satisfactory level for the first time which need to
me highly appreciated by the relevant authorities therefore, the Department of
Technology Education of NIE suggest to appreciate their work.
The department suggests giving an award and an appreciation certificate for the
teachers who secured the ranks island first and district first.
There would be two schools for island first 1 Engineering Technology and 1 Bio
system Technology. Similarly, at least 48 schools would be identified as district first
and number of teachers involved is not estimated. Therefore, the cost cannot be
determined at this stage.
