C. Ensure proper working platform and lighting arrangement are provided.
D. Ensure that tile spacers are approved.
E. Delivered tile materials shall be checked the following details:
Manufacturers name
Type of tiles
Color
Size
F. Different batches of delivered materials shall not be mixed and installed in the same
area to avoid color variation.
G. Obtain necessary clearances and approvals from engineers including MEP clearance.
H. The surface to which tiles to be fixed shall be free from all defects.
I. Rendered substrate must be fully cured prior to the tilling installation.

marring visible surfaces.
Q. Junction from floor and wall tiles shall be terminated at zero spaced.
R. Zero space shall also be observed at the junction between different materials (e.g. wall
skirting to door architrave and floor tiles to threshold).
S. Tile trim and tile nosing shall be installed as per approved shop drawings.
T. Junction between wall skirting to create nosing shall be terminated neatly at 45.

Mixing of Adhesive and Tile Installation

1. Layout tile works and marked the designated levels for referencing. Setting out
shall be done by trained surveyor and approved by engineer.
2. For wall tiling, established a level line at the bottom to position the starting
course. For floor tiling, start at the point fixed on the approved shop drawings.
3. Layout shall be approved by engineer to avoid installation of small pieces of tiles.
4. Remove from container the soak tiles.
5. Using 25 kilogram of tile adhesive, mix with 8 liters of potable water or as per
manufacturers recommendation. Mix thoroughly to create paste.
6. Wet the substrate prior to the installation of tiles.
7. Apply floated coat of adhesive to the background and comb the surface with
recommended solid bed trowel. Apply thin even coat at the back of tiles. Press
tiles unto the surface with twisting/sliding action to give finished bed thickness
within the range recommended by manufacturer.
8. Tamp the tile with rubber mallet to obtain required adhesion and level.
9. Used the spirit level and aluminum straight edge to level the surface of laid tiles.
10. Install the approved tile spacer in every installed tile.
11. Clean the face of tiles with foam or rag cloth gently to avoid deviation.
12. Repeat all the process until all tiles are laid.
13. Let the adhesive hardened/cured for minimum of 24 hours or as per
manufacturers recommendation prior to grouting.
Mixing of Grout and Application
1. Application of grout will be carried out in accordance with manufacturers
recommendation.
2. Ensure that the joint depth and width is maintained to 2mm and 6mm (or the
depth of tile if less) respectively, or in accordance with manufacturers
recommendation.
3. In case of blocked joints, remove blockage to create key for grouting in joints.
4. Mixing of grout shall be in accordance with manufacturers recommendation.
5. Apply the grout between the spaces of tiles using approved tools. Forced to fill
joints completely to the entire depth.
6. Let the grout settle for 10 minutes.
