Purpose
When using heavyweight paper, the LE enters the 2nd
transfer area, the IBT belt speed changes and causes a
smear in 1st transfer area.

Procedure
Check off the following steps as they are performed.

WARNING
Do not perform repair activities with the power
switched on or electrical power supplied to the
machine. Some machine components contain
dangerous electrical voltages that can result in
electrical shock and possible serious injury.

CAUTION

Observe all ESD procedures to avoid component

damage. Certain components in this procedure are
susceptible to damage from electrical discharge.
NOTE: If applicable

1. Remove all the Drums from machine and store

them in safe dark location.
2. Remove the Xerographic Drawer Front Cover, then
swap the original drawer handle with item #10
from the Kit Contents. Reinstall the drawer front
cover.

3. Remove the Front Left Door from the machine.

Locate the upper door pin and remove the K-clip
from the bottom of this pin. Lower the pin and
remove the door.

7. Swap the IBT Belt Tension Springs with Item #23

provided in kit. Discard the old springs. (PL 6.5,
item 8 and 15)

8. Exchange the BUR Assembly with Item #1. (REP

9.4)

4. Replace the door with item #28 from the Kit
Contents.
9. Reinstall the IBT Belt making sure the patch on the
belt is at proper side of assembly and installed
correctly.
10. At the outboard side of IBT Frame, near the kick
stand, install the Foot Stopper (item #22) on the
protruding sheet metal stud. (Figure 2)

5. Remove the IBT Cleaner. (REP 9.2)

6. Remove the IBT Assembly and remove the belt.

11. Reinstall the IBT Assembly.

12. Install the new IBT Front Cover. (item # 9)

18. On the inboard side of the BTR location, remove

the DTS Harness Cover Plate.and discard. (Figure
4)

13. Install the new IBT Front Handle (item # 8)

14. Reinstall the IBT Cleaner Assembly.

15. Remove the 2nd BTR Assembly. (REP 8.2)
16. Remove the outboard 2nd BTR Harness Mounting
Bracket, make sure to release the harness clamps
and harness before removal.
17. Install the bracket (item #4) to this area and reinstall the harness to the new bracket and connect.

19. Install the bracket (item #13) in place of existing
DTC Cover.
20. Install the bracket (item 14) to top of Item 13.

21. Install item 15 the new DTC Cover Plate, to the

bottom of Item 13. Make sure the screw hole and
detents are aligned properly. (Figure 6)

25. Install Item #31 to the left side of Item #32.

22. Locate the new 2nd BTR and install the label (item

26. Locate item #3, (Flywheel Assembly) and install
onto frame above Item #4 outboard BTR mount
bracket. Install left screw only. (Figure 9)

23. Install the new 2nd BTR (item 11) into the
machine.
24. Remove the Front Fuser Cover and replace it with
the new cover, item #32.

27. Locate item #6, flywheel safety cover, and install

over the flywheel mount screw. Make sure the
detents are aligned, then secure with the screw on
right side of cover. (Figure 10)

28. Install Item 24, the new cosmetic/safety cover and
add the Jam Clearance Label to the top surface.

30. Change the following NVMs to the new values

listed in table below.

31. Mark off Tag #13.

32. Dispose of all remaining items in the kit that were
not used, for they were included for different
markets.
29. Install the (5) labels (item #27) on the IBT and
Xerographic Front Door Handles. (Figure 11)
