    Cells are rod-shaped
    0.5-2.5 m by 1.2-10 m
    Motile
    Arranged in pairs with rounded or squared ends
    Cultural Characteristics:
    Gram positive
    Growth temperature: 5-15 to 40-50
    Optimum growth temperature: 28-30
    Spore-forming rods
    Biochemical Characteristics:
    facultative anaerobic
    chemoorganothrops with fermentative or respiratory metabolism
    catalyse positive
    acid production from glucose
    citrate as source of carbon
