2 How We Express Ourselves

Assalamu Alaikum,
Dear Parents,
Our coming unit is based on writing as a medium of expression. During this unit students
will be exposed to different forms of writing, different genres of literature, and they will
explore the purpose of writing.
This unit is a great opportunity for the studnets to explore the the author, poet, journalist
within them
Students will be meeting different literary luminaries and understand the process of writing
which culminates at publishing.

Central Idea:- Exploring writing as an effective means for communicating our thoughts,

ideas and feelings

Lines of inquiry:1. Importance of writing as a medium of Communication.
2. Different forms of writing
3. Author's different styles of expresssion.
4. Choosing appropriate writing styles according to the situation.
Formative Assessments will be ongoing throughout the unit for each Line of inquiry.
By the end of the unit students will show their understanding of the central idea through
their journals and their written pieces .
Summative Assessment Dates: Thursday 8th September 2016 and Friday 9th
September 2016.
