Comments:
The X300 was introduced in 1994 and was stylistically intended to
evoke the image of the more curvaceous Series 1 - 3 XJs. The front
of the car was redesigned significantly to return to four individual
round headlamps that provided definition to the sculptured hood.
Mechanically, it was similar to the second generation XJ the XJ40
that it replaced.
The first XJ produced entirely under Ford ownership, six-cylinder
X300s received significant updates and are powered by the AJ16
inline-six engine with electronic distributorless ignition system. The
normally aspirated six-cylinder 3.2 L X300 cars used a ZF 4HP-22
four-speed automatic gearbox. The X300 was produced from 1994
to 1997 and was a huge success for Jaguar. To honour Jaguar's
achievements, Queen Elizabeth II visited the Browns Lane factory
and ordered a British Racing Green X305 Daimler Double Six for her
personal use.
